OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Director, Research and Pipeline Development, the Manager, Research and Pipeline Development will expand the pool of prospective donors prospects and respond and respond to research requests from members of the front-line staff. In this role, you will work as a strategic partner with front-line fundraising staff to manage prospect portfolios, track prospect activity, and collaborate regarding prospect strategies.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you will bring a passion for our mission and previous experience in related research and data analysis roles. To be successful in this position, you will have the ability to synthesize complex research from multiple sources into action-oriented cultivation and solicitation recommendations for development officers, be able to independently juggle competing priorities, have a customer-service attitude and strong attention to detail.

The Manager, Research and Pipeline Development will also have the opportunity to interact with Year Up students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and Pipeline Development

  • Conduct proactive and reactive research and analysis of current donors and prospects; clearly articulate relevant information and recommendations by way of bios or comprehensive research profiles and reports to front-line fundraisers.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Research & Pipeline Development team and assigned front-line fundraising teams. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and execute prospect identification projects, expanding the pool of prospective donors. Research, analyze, and synthesize accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and connections to Year Up

  • Analyze and interpret data to identify new prospects, assess their potential for engagement, and prioritize cultivation efforts

  • Share research with front-line fundraisers to assist them in developing specific cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects

  • Leverage prospect management system to effectively track and monitor prospects through the fundraising cycle

  • Implement prospect review meetings and solicitor portfolio reviews

  • Actively collaborate with front-line fundraisers to identify and ensure a focus on the most financially capable and mission aligned prospects and donors

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date information on prospects and donors

Site Team/Learning Community Member

  • May serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students

  • Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings

The location for this role is flexible and is open to candidates in any city where Year Up operates (https://www.yearup.org/locations) with preference given to candidates within Eastern/Central time zones.

Salary: $61,000-$70,000

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of professional work experience

  • Experience in Development Operations, Sales Support, Revenue Operations, Prospect Research, or similar positions/roles involving internet-based Research, biographical or genealogical research, financial analysis, or data management, preferred

  • Experience working with a relational database, Salesforce experience is preferred, though not required

  • Ability to leverage qualitative and quantitative research methods and translate information into digestible information for colleagues

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office required, especially Microsoft Word and Excel

  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at one time

  • Strong analytical skills, harnessing complex data and distilling relevant information to drive decision-making

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Year Up and prospect information

  • Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone

  • An unwavering attention to detail and aptitude for information management required

  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Year Up has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets. For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
