Summary

The Manager, Recruitment & Employer Relations position assists with employer relationship strategies, develops and maintains employer contacts, and identifies opportunities for students and graduates. This position also manages and remains updated on 12Twenty Career Service Management System, organizes and implements on-campus and off-campus events associated with the Career Services and Student Life Offices while maintaining, developing, and running reports regarding employer relations and job placement statistics.

This is an on-site position.

Essential Functions

External Outreach:

  • Research, invite, and follow-up to create and expand On Campus Interview Program.

  • Assist with marketing law students and alumni to employers in the central Florida area and other regional markets.

  • Assist the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations with creating advertising materials and directing communication efforts to target markets.

  • Research, invite, and follow-up in order to create and expand On Campus Interview Program.

  • Create, maintain, and expand Employer Database.

  • Take the lead in providing content for social media outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

  • Perform other functions as assigned.

Plan and provide programming and organize off-campus networking events:

  • Coordinate with the Director of Employer Services and Employer Relations to develop and implement career path and professionalism programs that support students and alumni with career planning and job-search efforts. Programs will include informational sessions, panel discussions including practitioners, and interactive workshops regarding the private and public sector jobs and non-traditional jobs.

  • Develop off-campus networking events with the aim to further develop employer relationships.

  • Organize tri-monthly bagel hours and Career Services pro bono hours.

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of on-campus interviewing and resume collection programs throughout the year.

  • Develop pro bono opportunities on a monthly basis and organize the Public Interest and Pro Bono Job Fair on campus.

  • Perform other functions as assigned.

Manage Career Service Management System 12Twenty, Career Service Employer Website, and Social Media Outlets:

  • Manage daily functions of the Career Service Management System 12Twenty.

  • Serve as a point of contact with 12Twenty.

  • Manage the Job Bank and ensure that it is updated on a daily basis.

  • Set up all on-campus interview sessions and resume bank collections.

  • Attend 12Twenty user conferences, stay updated on new features and changes, and educate staff on new features and changes.

  • Promote 12Twenty to students, graduates, and employers as a resource.

  • Register employers into 12Twenty and post both organic and researched job postings.

  • Manage under supervision of Director of Career Services and Employer Relations all social media and project management outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, Trello, and LinkedIn.

  • Perform other functions as needed.

Statistical Reporting:

  • Assist the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations with maintaining the integrity of information for the online database as needed.

  • Conduct statistical analysis regarding all Career Services and Student Life efforts to evaluate and plan future goals and programming.

  • Assist with processing at-graduation and 9-month post-graduation surveys.

  • Perform other functions as needed.

Provide career counseling through the following activities:

  • Counsel students and alumni on individual and group bases regarding career planning and job search strategies, including self-assessment, networking, and professional skills development.

  • Create short-term and long-term action plans and follow-up with students as needed regarding the steps to complete action plans.

  • Review resumes and cover letters for students and alumni, including first-year students through the Legal Writing and Research classes, conduct mock employment interviews, and advise law students about interviewing, networking, and job search techniques.

  • Keep abreast of NALP regulations and legal market trends reported by NALP and other related organizations. Advise law students about current market trends regarding legal and alternative employers.

  • Actively encourage law students to utilize the Career Resources Library and guide students to the information within the resources.

  • Perform other functions as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • JD degree.

  • One to three (1-3) years of relevant experience in the career services or legal recruiting field or one to three (1-3) years of experience as a practicing attorney.

  • Evening and weekend work will be required.

  • Ability to analyze economic and job markets, notice changes, anticipate changes, and relay that information to students.

  • High level of project and process management; very detailed planning required for short and long-term projects, often working with several staff members.

  • Ability to communicate in writing and orally to various levels to include students, alumni, staff, faculty, lawyers, judges, employers, and the general public.
