Manager, Recruitment (Admissions)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, the Recruitment Manager provides leadership to a team of Recruiters in order to oversee communications between the institution and prospective candidates. The Recruitment Manager also supports enrollment efforts through leadership of the team of Recruiters in the areas of network management (both internal and external), development of relationships and rapport, provision of admissions information to prospective students, and management of assigned territories.

  • Demonstrated skills in leadership and/or project management, with an ability to effectively organize and prioritize projects and tasks and guide others to do the same.

  • Results-driven professional who consistently demonstrates follow-through, goal setting abilities, and the ability to produce timely results both personally and as the leader of a team.

  • Demonstrated experience in record maintenance, data entry, and word processing skills.

  • An ability to consistently deliver professional communications orally, in writing, and with a student-first perspective.

  • The willingness and ability to work a schedule that includes evenings, travel, and weekends.

  • An ability to demonstrate both personal accountability and collaboration with others to seamlessly and successfully move students through the admissions process.

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite as well as a short learning curve for new technology.

  • Extensive knowledge about the College, areas of study, student resources, and other College-related opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and organizational direction to a team of Recruiters in a manner that promotes teamwork, efficiency, superior communications, and a student-centric focus.

  • Lead team of Recruiters in delivery of consistent and proactive engagement of students to enhance enrollment.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Admissions and other Admissions and College staff to provide a smooth transition throughout the recruitment, admissions, and advising processes.

  • Possess readiness to perform all job duties of a Recruiter as needed to align with enrollment efforts.

  • Lead Recruiters in assessment and communication with potential students to evaluate their records, determine eligibility, and otherwise engage them in the recruitment and admissions processes to generate interest and/or an application.

  • Establish and maintain relationships and rapport with direct reports, peers, and other College members; prospective students; high school counselors; and others throughout an assigned territory via email, telephone, text messages, direct mail, social media outlets, and other methods as called for.

  • Consistently monitor and react to team dynamics, workloads, and staffing needs to maintain morale while also delivering dependable, high-quality service to prospective, current, and/or former students.

  • Positively represent the College at regional and national events as assigned. Travel may be team-based or individual, may require evening and weekend hours, and may encompass overnight stays.

  • Coordinate and execute personal visits to high schools and other locations within an assigned territory to promote the interest of prospective students and generate leads and/or applications.

  • Fully engage with the profession and/or field of Higher Education through participation in national and regional associations, review of persistent and emerging concepts and best practices, and helping team members link theory and research to daily practice.

  • Offer campus tours as needed.

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus 3-5 years of directly related experience; or a Master's Degree in Higher Education, business, student affairs, adult learning, or closely related field, plus 1-2 years of directly related experience; or a combination of directly related experience and education credentials.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to prioritize responsibilities and tasks.

  • Goal- and results- driven, with an ability to function both independently and collaboratively/in a team environment.

  • Positive attitude that is open to change, as well as comfort in delivering and receiving constructive/critical feedback.

  • Clear student-centered philosophy expected.

  • Prior experience that demonstrates an understanding of retention and persistence metrics, student assessment, and their application to the decision-making process.
