Job Description:

This position requires specialized skills and knowledge to handle the challenges and complexities of the office and project quality activities. With authoritative decision-making this role's recommendations have a significant impact on business line quality policies and programs. This role may supervise the work of assigned quality personnel as needed.

  • Implement and supervise technical quality (i.e., adherence to client, regulatory agency, and company requirements), and help to maintain harmonious client relations

  • Communicate effectively with all labor grades, and contribute ideas that stimulate positive direction of business line personnel

  • Serve as project Quality Manager on small to medium sized projects, if necessary

  • Maintain relationships with key internal and external Clients and external Quality community

  • Typically manage personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities ,and timely performance feedback

  • Other duties as assigned

Key Responsibilities: * The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring Regulatory Compliance and Quality Management for the plant. Develops, executes, and manages the Quality Plan for Detroit. * Responsible to confirm this aligns with the Quality Strategic Plan. Providing Quality and/or technical leadership/supervision to product/projects/systems and direct report teams. * Directly accountable for multiple teams within department. Responsible for driving the integration efforts and identify synergies to leverage systems and resources within the organization. * Champions interdisciplinary teamwork to ensure goals are accomplished and communication occurs between the function and Ops team. * Assures balance of resource allocation, dollars, and equipment to support timely project completion. * Introduce, implement, and maintain corporate initiatives ensuring appropriate harmonization with local Quality System. * Is called upon to represent the function on specific technical or procedural actions as assigned. * Manages budget, resource dollars, and equipment. Accountable for staffing, assessment, and development of personnel within the quality group. Initiates and is responsible for performance review process for associates as assigned. * As a liaison, engages with corporate and local organization to influence and educate appropriate groups on new systems and processes. Recommends modifications to local Quality policies, procedures, and practices that can affect the operating unit. * As a consultant interacts with senior leadership as it relates to the specialty area. * Is the Quality representative to ISO and external customer representatives concerning audits. * Accomplishes results through subordinates who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. * Introduce, implement, administers, and maintains quality systems for conformance to corporate and regulatory requirements. * Implements systems for Detroit to assume compliance to quality system objectives including audit observations, non-conforming complaints, CAPA, and validation requirements. * Represents Detroit on cross business teams related to Quality System and Regulatory Compliance. Function as the primary contact for internal customer or outside regulatory agency (ISO). * Fosters communication and cooperation within manufacturing and quality sub teams. Provide input to facilitate decision making and conflict resolution. * Understands and adheres to ISO Quality standards, cGMP requirements, and safety policies. Review and implement procedures for safe, clean Quality work environment. * Continually seek to develop and integrate methods of cost and quality improvement using the continuous improvement tools. * Participates in yearly budgetary process and develop Quality measures using the Performance Management system. Minimum Qualifications: * BS/BA and 9 years experience where 4-6 years include supervisory/leadership responsibilities or MS/MBA and 7 years experience where 5 years include supervisory/leadership responsibilities * Working knowledge and understanding of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Part 11 and 21 CFR Part 820. * Working knowledge and understanding of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000/9001 and 13485 Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and accomplish results through lower level subordinate supervisors or experienced direct reports. * Ability to organize and prioritize assignments providing direction to assigned functional teams. * Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels. * Ability to speak with clarity and manage conflict resolution in a variety of settings; one-on-one interactions, group meetings, and formal presentations. * Ability and skill to effectively manage multiple tasks and lead execution of change management plans. * Ability and skill to lead or manage the Quality function for design projects, reliability concepts for complex systems, validation planning and execution, continuous improvement projects using statistical sampling, six sigma root cause analysis tools, and project management techniques. * Ability to act as a liaison across functions and with outside customer representatives or stakeholders concerning operational or project schedules/deliverables, audits, etc. * Able to manage budgets and develop capital expenditure requests.
