WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Quality Control Center (QCC) Manager is a member of AVI-SPL's Systems Integration team responsible for the daily operation and success of a Quality Control Center. By leading, developing, and mentoring staff you will drive the organizational goals of increasing velocity and maintaining consistency while ensuring quality, all critical elements for enhancing project profitability and achieving customer satisfaction and success. This position will partner with local office and regional leadership to:

  • Predictably and reliably deliver commissioned systems and equipment for projects.

  • Drive efficiency and improve financial performance and customer satisfaction on projects.

  • Focus the QCC team on quality outcomes that continuously exceed customer expectations, earn repeat business, and maintain our industry leading position.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Leadership, Management, and Development of QCC Personnel and Staff.

  • Create and develop a culture dedicated to adherence to Quality: Scope, Standards, Specifications, and Safety - and continuous reflection and improvement.

  • Continually enforce the Quality Control Center Process to ensure production/work product meet goals and objectives.

  • Generate and lead development of new process improvements to maintain quality, increase throughput, and enhance margin.

  • Manage QCC budget ensuring resources and materials are available to meet project demands while maintaining overall center financial goals.

  • Manage individual project budgets around fabrication and shop commissioning.

  • Proactively communicate with project stakeholders on project status, progress and technical or financial issues.

  • Schedules and leads QCC specific Technical Kick-Off Meetings (TKO).

  • Assigns resources to meet project milestones / resource requests.

  • Assists with fabrication and commissioning efforts for purposes of developing and mentoring staff.

  • Ensures proper tools, equipment, cables, and connectors are stocked, available, and used appropriately.

  • Schedules and participates in project specific "Post-Mortem" discussions to solicit feedback on QCC performance, work quality, and areas for improvement - and ensures relevant feedback from these sessions is converted into actionable items for future improvement.

  • Evaluates technical competency of staff and develops appropriate mentorship or training opportunities.

  • Proactively identifies and requests additional resources when needed (capacity planning) to maintain technical capabilities and velocity, and to assist in achieving regional and company AOP targets.

  • Works with technical staff in skill development and learning plan completion to assist in career growth.

  • Monitors project schedules to ensure upstream deliverables (drawings, equipment, code, etc.) are on track to meet the QCC schedule.

  • Conducts technical or safety training on relevant and specific topics.

  • Participates in meetings with sales and engineering teams to understand new products and solutions and determines QCC action items to support.

  • Maintains a strong understanding of technical aspects of business/industry, and trends and changes in quality assurance and control methodology.

  • Travels to regional offices or customer job

  • Ability to direct a team towards a cohesive set of tactical objectives and maintain efficient timelines in the completion of tasks.

  • Ability to understand and leverage existing company systems to provide project specific solutions.

  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills

  • Excellent presentation skills and be comfortable sharing thought leadership with Executive stakeholders from AVI-SPL, Customers, Manufacturers and Third-Party Service Providers

  • Proficiency in various business productivity systems.

  • Ability to balance multiple tasks with changing priorities.

  • Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of the organization.

  • Self-starter capable of working independently and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • A minimum of a 4-year degree or comparable industry experience is required.

  • 5+ years in a leadership role preferred (direct or indirect).

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.

  • CTS-I Certification preferred.

  • Extensive experience within a rack fabrication OR quality control environment preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience understanding and executing technical strategies and processes, resulting in exceeding business targets.
