General Summary

Lead and manage the entire range of Quality programs, as defined in the Snyder's Lance Quality Policies and CSC North American Quality Policies. Position has specific compliance, process, and consumer quality responsibilities for the Overall Charlotte Manufacturing facility. Position will manage a set of matrix relationships within Quality, and R&D, to influence senior management on alignment of Quality strategies, Quality annual objectives, and Plant project plans. Individual will coordinate and deploy Quality Assurance programs across Snyder's Lance plants, and functional areas, and influence plant leadership with quality best practices.

Principal Accountabilities

Develop, drive, and continually improve a comprehensive quality program as defined by the Snyder's Lance QPM and CSC North American Quality Policies. (Compliance Quality)

Drive process improvement initiatives through staff, work group Snyder's Lance, Quality staff, and R&D (Process Quality)

Manage & Drive Consumer Complaint programs, initiatives, and consumer delight models for each business

Job Complexity

  • Response to new or changes in regulations on specifications, procedures, quality, and implications where utilized in a range of finished product.

  • Trouble shooting quality issues across the varied supply chains for ingredients, packaging, materials, and finished products supplied (examples; mixed labels, allergen risk management, equipment risk management, container nonconformance).

Job Specifications

Expert abilities and decision quality in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within food processing. Facilitate and/or direct resolution to issues as it relates to food safety and quality. Ability to manage multi- plant responsibilities is required.

  • Expert knowledge in Sanitation and GMP Practices, familiarity with Pest Control programs and techniques

  • Knowledge of Quality Standards, and Quality Policies, with skills and ability to execute against requirements.

  • Knowledge and general business acumen to support and influence Manufacturing, including best practices and innovative technologies.

  • Knowledgeable in industry Food Safety/Quality audit practices, and skilled in adapting to achieve business best practices.

  • Capable of engaging other businesses unit quality in development and standardization of; Quality manuals, policies, procedures, and data templates, audit standards and procedures, and Quality Key Performance Indicators.

  • Knowledgeable in Statistical Process Control programs and Process capability studies

  • Ensures plant personnel are technically capable of handling non-routine quality system issues and that issues are investigated, documented, and resolved.

  • Record of leadership and demonstrated success in collaborative development, documentation, planning, and implementation and continuous improvement of quality systems.

  • Ability to drive organizational alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.

  • Capable of influencing development steps used in the Innovation and Commercialization process to leverage Design in achieving consumer safety and quality objectives (example; HACCP Assessment).

  • Assertive, Outspoken, yet collaborative. Demonstrated skills influencing components of the company, tough-mindedness, vision, and political savvy to manage internal and external relationships and situations.

  • Dedicated work habits, takes initiative, sets high standards

  • Knowledgeable and capable of collaboration on quality programs, drives improvement of consumer based specifications.

  • Minimum BS Food Science (or related degree), and a minimum 10-12 years of food industry quality plant/systems experience with demonstrated achievement in Quality leadership.

  • Desired certifications: PCQI, HACCP, GFSI

  • Aware of Continuous Improvement tools.

The Plant Controller functions as the leading financial planning & accounting professional in the plant and is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of results and maintenance of the company's assets through balance sheet integrity and ensuring a strong control environment. The Plant Controller also serves as the business partner to the Plant Manager focusing largely on providing financial and operational leadership and improvements, including identifying and driving cost reductions. Major Accountabilities: The Plant Controller position is accountable for the Financial & Accounting operations of the site. Responsible for the plant's Balance Sheet reporting (US GAAP), provides periodic operations financial reports (Actuals, Forecast, Budget, KPIs), maintains an adequate system of accounting records, and oversees Internal Controls site capabilities and processes. Major Responsibilities: Accountable for ensuring balance sheet integrity, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and fostering a strong control environment in the plant by: * Managing a complete and thorough month end close process; * Ensuring full compliance and improvement to site Sarbanes-Oxley requirements; * Being a strong example of integrity and 'Doing the Right Thing'; * Noting and appropriately mitigating business risks; and * Proactively seeking and improving any deficiencies. Functions as a business partner with the Plant Manager to effectively manage and control all facets of the plant's efficiency and productivity by: * Framing financial and operational issues in a complete business case format and positively contributing to the strategic direction in the plant; * Driving negotiations with key vendors either directly or via partnering with procurement; * Leading and/or participating in presentations to plant employees, plant management; and * Accepting responsibility for plant accounting operations as well as financial and operations management. Provides operational financial reporting, financial analysis and manufacturing cost analysis by: * Preparing and managing actual, forecast, and budget scenarios throughout the course of the year; * Analyzing and interpreting plant performance, evaluating variances and assessing the effects on plant results; * Providing management with the strategic tools and reports to drive business results; * Serving as project manager on cost reduction initiatives, working cross functionally with engineers, procurement, and plant operators to drive cost reductions; Leads a high-performance Financial Team by: * Establishing clear roles & responsibilities for each team member; * Providing continuous coaching & feedback to drive team's personal and professional development; and * Promoting finance team members engagement and involvement with other functional areas at the site.
