We will be filling 3 key manager roles in the areas listed below within ComEd Project Management:

  • Distribution Project Management

  • Project Management Office (PMO)

  • Distribution Interconnection Project Management

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Direct the personnel and activities of the Project Management Group, including development, definition and implementation of work processes and financial management tools, development and implementation of processes and tools to oversee and effectively manage projects, control costs, assure adherence to schedules, prioritize projects and resources and forecast budgets. Assure the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity. Champion the use of the corrective action process and utilize continuous learning. Reinforce safe work behaviors and culture. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • ComEd --
  • Oversee the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services, maximize profitability and achieve Exelon's reliability and customer retention goals. (10%)
  • Manage the overall Project Management budget. Establish and monitor business plans and division objectives. Balance cost control with service level needs. (20%)
  • Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Leads Project Management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions. (30%)
  • Provide leadership to and development of the Project Management team. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct Performance Planning and Appraisal process. Identifies opportunities for growth and learning. (20%)
  • Interface with other departments in Exelon and represent Exelon to other business units regarding projects under management and tools to support the process. (10%)
  • Facilitates open and honest communication with Project Management staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee grievances and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. (10%)

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years as a supervisor or manager.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management tools, techniques, and contracting. Demonstrated financial management knowledge in Budgeting and Forecasting.

  • Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture.

  • Proven high-level management skills in coaching and facilitating business competency.

  • Proven performance management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, negotiate, and foster culture change.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.

  • Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.

  • Ability to review and understand contract structure and impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field

  • PMP Certification

  • 5 years supervisory experience and 5 years managing projects or programs or relevant business experience

  • Electric industry background in the construction, maintenance and troubleshooting of transmission & substation equipment/systems or distribution control systems.

  • Contracting strategy knowledge beyond T&E, Unit Price, and Lump Sum. Knowledge of contractor Wage Rate analysis.

  • Understanding of Long Range Planning (LRP) development, including budget and scoping. Ability to create and implement cost control and efficiency strategies

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Role Overview Participates and/or leads teams in studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning of Exelon's electric transmission system. Coordinates with internal and external (PJM, ReliabilityFirst, local/state governing bodies, etc.) organizations in various transmission planning related activities. Trains and mentors others. Transmission Reinforcement interfaces/coordinates with other Exelon engineering organizations (transmission, substation, relay, etc.) to develop innovative and cost-efficient projects to mitigate transmission system risks. Reinforcement prepares project alternatives, obtains/analyzes data for justification, and acquires funding for new projects. Transmission Reinforcement participates in various internal (project challenges/approvals) and external regulatory efforts to ensure projects are built to retain transmission system reliability. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Key Areas of Responsibility * Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise. Requiring maintaining state of the art engineering credential in the specialized technical area. * Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas, may include field testing troubleshooting, and peer review. * Evaluates, develops, implements and leads projects that have significant financial and operational impact, may also develop initial commissioning plans. Plans, writes and performs tasks for documentation deliverables and projects * Participates in department planning, through field/site walkdowns, attend meetings/conference calls, provide budget recommendations and monitor performance for the accomplishment of committed results. * Performs assignments while acting independently, and may lead multi-discipline teams, may include providing direct oversight of contractors. * Serves as an expert in specialized area. * Acts as an expert witness or provide expert opinions as required. * Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness. * Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and/or guidance to others. * Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in areas of company interest, make recommendations for business decisions regarding strategy for new technologies and/or engineering techniques and tools.
