The Ferring Research Institute was established in San Diego, California in 1996 as the company's center of excellence for peptide research. More than 70 people work at its state-of-the-art research facility located in the heart of the Southern California biopharmaceutical community.
The full-time member of the US Procurement function is the main interface toward third party suppliers. The candidate will manage the procurement process for lab supplies, equipment, service contracts, and capital equipment, IT Hardware/Software for the US Research Lab Facility.
Lead procurement activities for Lab Equipment, Instruments/Consumables, Capital Equipment, Service Contracts, IT Hardware and Software
Negotiate and finalize contracts together with FRI Business Development, QA, Legal & Compliance Departments to ensure cross departmental alignment with respect to processes and policies for contract development, approval, execution and management; Ensure duly authorized sign-off of contracts (internally and with third party)
Partner with suppliers to develop and foster strong relationships with preferred/alliance suppliers to ensure clear communication, create an environment of partnership, and agreed-to contractually committed levels of service, quality, delivery, and cost
Complete purchase requests with domestic and international suppliers by inputting purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying transactions
Handle correspondence concerning over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices and report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required
Responsible for all buying for local site
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent, 7 years minimum experience in procurement, category management and contract management in pharmaceutical industry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills as this role requires the ability to communicate and connect with all levels of the organization
Strong negotiations skills and decision-making ability to purchase goods or services in alignment with the objectives of the organization
Comprehensive understanding of purchasing processes and knowledge of best practices for sourcing, supplier management and procure-to-pay
Experience in working with biology/chemistry teams required
Strong analytical skills to identify savings opportunities
Ability to influence, motivate and collaborate across all functional business lines
Results oriented, self-starter, team player, effective leader and keen on working in cross-cultural working environment.
