WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The Platform Operations Team works closely with The Trade Desk's product, engineering, and finance teams to provide financial leadership, strategic procurement, and operational process to support the backend operation of The Trade Desk's global advertising platform.

We are looking for a skilled operations leader with experience in procurement, finance & budgeting, and operational process improvement. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments and possesses a strong technical background coupled with excellent leadership and communication skills. They are a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to managing operations, capable of working independently to ensure seamless delivery of systems and infrastructure for The Trade Desk. They should be adept at problem-solving, resource allocation, and fostering collaboration across departments to drive efficiency and innovation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operational support of The Trade Desk platform, including infrastructure projects, systems administration, and vendor management.

  • Partnering with product and engineering to develop and implement strategies to optimize technology processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall performance of our platform.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and align technology initiatives with company objectives.

  • Establishing and maintaining policies, procedures, and standards to ensure operational security, compliance, and resiliency.

  • Monitoring platform performance and cost metrics and then implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform efficiency and scalability.

  • Managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and evaluating third-party services to optimize costs and enhance service quality.

  • Serving as a point of escalation for vendor related issues and incidents, coordinating resolution efforts and implementing preventive measures to mitigate future risks.

  • Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization, and making recommendations for adoption or integration.

  • Contributing to the creation of the annual Platform Operations budget and forecast, encompassing over 250 Million in annual expenses.

  • Determining the capital budget for technology investments, such as hardware, software, and infrastructure upgrades.

  • Ad-hoc project cost scoping/reporting with engineering to support strategic decision making on development resource allocation.

  • Collaborating with product and engineering stakeholders to effectively articulate the importance of financial ownership and accountability, while empowering the engineering organization to operate independently using guidance and guiderails communicated.

  • Corporate Strategic Technology Negotiations - Support the overall company with strategic negotiation support on technology contracts.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology or finance related field; master's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in operations in the software industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Proven record of successfully managing technology operations strategy at a high growth company.

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Solid technical competency; possess working knowledge of technical topics such as network architecture, cloud computing, and datacenter operations.

  • Experience managing projects and initiatives from conception to implementation, with a focus on delivering results within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and drive process improvements to optimize companywide operations.

  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, multitask effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

NY, CO, CA, and WA residents only: In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is$93,100-$170,600 USD
