The Manager of Planning position is a new role that is responsible for helping manage strategic budgeting, planning, and resource allocation initiatives within marketing. With the Director of Planning, you will create a set of frameworks and models around budgeting that can be leveraged across all content-types (image, video, music, and editorial) and eCommerce & Enterprise sales distribution channels. The goal of this program is to maximize LTV to CAC by allocating spend efficiently and effectively across all our marketing channels. The ideal candidate is deeply analytical and expert at building forecasting models. You must also have a keen interest in marketing and optimizing large marketing budgets to hit key business objectives. Additionally, you enjoy working cross-functionally across an organization to make and realize critical business decisions.

This position is a part of our Marketing organization, reports to the Director of Planning, and is based out of Shutterstock's New York headquarters in the Empire State Building.

Responsibilities:

  • Help own budgeting and strategic planning process within the marketing department, includes understanding business goals and targets as well as marketing opportunities across all key channels.

  • Build and analyze monthly forecasting models that measure and track the output of all marketing spend (ROI, CAC, LTV, Revenue), and provide recommendations for incremental spend, reallocation, or cost-cutting.

  • Create strategic marketing plans with Marketing leadership that enable growth opportunities and way to scale various programs and campaigns.

  • Work with GMs/business leads and working with each line of businesses on supporting their P&L objectives.

  • Assist with forecasting processes with Finance, Accounting, and Procurement on marketing budget and ongoing spend requests.

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting needs as it relates to budgeting.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in a strategy, marketing, consulting, finance, or analytical type role.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Marketing, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.

  • Proven ability to build models, perform complex analyses and forecasting, and deliver executive-level reporting.

  • Knowledgeable in marketing and business KPIs.

  • Comfortable with different data platforms (internal reporting, web analytics platforms, 3rd party marketing platforms).

  • Comfortable working with large, complex, and disparate data sets -- strong Excel skills required; SQL, Python, or other database / query skills preferred.

  • Ability to manage a large, eight-figure marketing budget -- track effectiveness (LTV to CAC, ROI) of all spend vs the expected conversions / leads to the business.

  • Track various spend types and categories, vendors, line items and organizing the tracking of this spend.

  • Familiar with digital marketing channels, different attribution models, and B2B and B2C marketing programs.

  • Preferred experience in eCommerce and Enterprise business models and marketplaces.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proven track record of communicating strategies, building business cases and plans, and selling these across a matrix organization.

  • Operate successfully in a cross-functional environment -- partner and work directly with other marketing stakeholders, business, sales, and finance teams.

  • Understands the Shutterstock brand, marketplace, and competition.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and experience leading through change.

  • Has strong interpersonal skills and comfortable playing an influencer role when needed.

  • Show clear, logic-based decision-making with a sense of urgency around meeting business objectives.
