To lead our team, we are seeking an experienced Physical Therapy leader to manage and coordinate activities of the Physical Therapy team within Rehabilitation Medicine to ensure effective operations in accordance with patient needs, professional standards, and established procedures.

Duties may include:

  • Oversees professional and support staff. Provides work direction, assigns tasks, answers job-related questions, oversees training, and prepares performance evaluations. Conducts interviews and recommends personnel actions. Maintains workflow and implements in-service education programs. Ensures compliance with hospital policies.

  • Evaluates patients' physical abilities and deficits using established physical therapy methods. Determines relevant treatment techniques/modalities and proper equipment usage. Administers and adjusts treatment programs as necessary.

  • Plans and coordinates physical therapy activities to ensure effective rehabilitation services. Designs and implements treatment programs, monitors care quality, and coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

  • Investigates new physical therapy procedures and evaluates equipment for suitability. Oversees equipment maintenance, coordinates with vendors, and manages supplies.

  • Develops and implements quality control programs to ensure effective services. Maintains safety standards and recommends improvements to administrative systems.

  • Sets specific goals and objectives, monitors progress, and participates in policy formulation. Recommends policy modifications to management.

  • Maintains effective communication with hospital departments, physicians, staff, patients, and outside institutions. Resolves job-related inquiries and problems and represents the department in conferences and case presentations.

  • Compiles operational information, prepares reports, participates in clinical research, and prepares the annual budget. Oversees maintenance of department files and records, and stays current in the field.

  • Participates in hiring, training, evaluation, and termination of staff. Performs other managerial duties as required.

  • Special Projects: Undertakes special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Criteria

  • Physical Therapy experience working with Orthopedic and Spine Patients including post-surgical protocols.

  • 7+ years of PT clinical experience. Working knowledge of the McKenzie approach to spine care and strong manual therapy background.

  • Ability to manage within a complex organization.

  • Ability to collaborate with leaders from other departments.

  • Appreciation for hiring, training, and developing a diverse staff.

Required Criteria

  • Knowledge acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree plus up to one year of post-degree coursework and/or an internship.

  • Degree or major in Physical Therapy.

  • Licensure as a Physical Therapist by the State of New York.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification with American Heart Association.

  • 5-to-7 years of previous work-related experience.

  • Two years of previous supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of Physical Therapy.

  • Strong Communication Skills.

  • Supervisory Experience

  • The position requires providing direct patient care to young adults, adults, and geriatric patients.

Salary Range:

$116,500-$193,500/Annual
