Summary :

The Manager, Pharmacy Operations oversees all aspects of pharmacy operations including clinical and distributive services, patient-centered clinic based pharmacy services, and specialty outpatient pharmacy services. Manages the integration of clinical pharmacy services, drug utilization programs, and pharmacy operations throughout ThedaCare. Actively functions as a member of clinical pharmacy practice and interdisciplinary teams by providing facilitation, integrated operational services, pharmacist interventions, and medication therapy management to patients with a broad range of disease states. Develops departmental initiatives that focus on team member engagement, process improvement, patient satisfaction, and workplace safety.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Effectively manages team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.

  • Is accountable for daily activities and work processes that result in quality outcomes.

  • Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices.

  • Manages pharmacy practice programs, and directs patient care services and medication system to provide reliable, comprehensive, and individualized drug therapy that is aligned with patient needs, evidence-based best practices, regulatory standards, and budgetary targets.

  • Collaborates with healthcare providers and pharmacy team members to place practice priority on the delivery of patient-centered care, and provide accurate, safe, timely, and appropriate medication therapy based on patient needs.

  • Is responsible for the operational and informatics support of procedures and automated programs involving interpreting orders/prescriptions, compounding medications, checking for danger/toxicity of ingredients, labeling and packaging of medications, and dispensing of medications.

  • Participates in surveillance of charging system as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure charge system integrity and accuracy.

  • Ensures appropriate drug utilization across ThedaCare with the goal of lowering drug care costs as it relates to the operations of ThedaCare's formularies and utilization management processes such as prior authorizations, exceptions, and other applicable pharmacy requirements.

  • Maintains quality assurance standards and quality techniques for the performance of pharmacy services and general department operations. Evaluates pharmacy functions, practices, and reporting and record keeping, including the documentation of the use of drugs in the clinical setting.

  • Designs and implements new pharmacy programs, quality improvement changes, continuous quality assurance initiatives, and medication stewardship programs to advance ThedaCare's medication-use systems and promote optimal patient outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy

  • Five years of progressive responsibility in a healthcare setting

  • Three years of leadership experience to include leading teams and/or projects

  • State of Wisconsin pharmacist license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance

  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the facility

  • Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers
