Nova Biomedical is hiring a Manager to support our PCB Manufacturing and Test group in our Waltham, MA facility ( Hours 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM). The PCB Manufacturing Manager oversees a high-mix, low-volume PCBA production area, while ensuring efficient processes, high-quality output, and timely delivery. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and critical-thinking skills. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, and Production teams to drive continuous improvement and meet customer demands.
This position has overall responsibility to ensure (1) their areas are compliant to all quality, safety, and company requirements, (2) personnel are trained and competent in their duties, (3) accuracy of area inventory, (4) developing and implementing capacity & capital plans to achieve business requirements, and (5) the achievement of production schedules, new product introductions, and R&D prototypes. Other responsibilities include:
Manages day-to-day operations of the PCBA production area that includes production leaders, operators, technicians, and engineers
Plans and allocates manufacturing and testing resources to meet production schedules including the use of capacity tools to proactively plan for labor and equipment requirements
Optimizes production processes to achieve cost-effectiveness, quality, and on-time delivery
Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, yield, and cycle time
Provides technical guidance to productions staff, troubleshoot issues, and resolve challenges
Collaborates with R&D and Engineering teams to ensure smooth transitions from prototype to production
Supports quick-turn products by coordinating resources and prioritizing tasks
Ensures adherence to quality standards, including DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles, Training, Calibration and Preventative Maintenance, and process documentation
Implements corrective actions based on feedback from quality control and customer returns
Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reliability
Fosters a positive work environment, encourage collaboration, and promote professional growth
Conducts performance evaluations, provides coaching, and addresses any performance issues
Collaborates with supply chain and procurement teams to manage component availability and end of life (EOL) mitigation
Participates in new product development/transfer meetings to ensure labor and manufacturing resources are properly planned to support prototype, pilot, and production requirements
Develops and manages key strategies/programs to drive continuous improvements in defined areas of responsibility; provide guidance and support to staff as needed
Responsible for the accuracy and condition of point of use inventory. Resolves inventory inaccuracies by researching and determining root cause and implementing corrective action, if applicable
Responds to CAPAs generated as a result of internal and external audits
Administers and enforces company policies and resolves any issues pertaining to policies
Ensures a safe, accident free, work environment. Creates and enforces safe work practices
Develops and administers department pay plans and budgets
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of SMT processes, equipment, and industry best practices
Working knowledge of basic printed circuit board design and concepts
Working knowledge of GMP and ISO requirements. FDA requirements a plus
Working knowledge of inventory control practices and manufacturing planning.
Working knowledge of electrical testing of printed circuit boards, component programming, and testing of electrical assemblies
Skills and Competencies:

Education/Experience:
BS/BA degree in a technical or business discipline
5 plus years of management experience with SMT printed circuit board assemblies and BGA technology in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferable in a low-volume, high-mix environment with significant interaction with R&D.
Medical device manufacturing a plus
Practical experience with the basics of electrical testing of printed circuit boards and electrical assemblies
