Job Summary

Responsible for preparing, monitoring and presenting reports on area to show volumes, activity and structure. Required to monitor reports to show trends, address productivity issues, and address issues that result in highs and lows on call volumes, outstanding A/R issues, complaint logs and other collection and customer service related issues.

Good working knowledge of collection laws as well as requirements of collection agencies mandated under the FDCPA standards. Self-directed with a high level of accountability and minimal supervision. Functions as a resource for employees and clients.

Maintain competency and skill in areas supervising. Expected to assist with interviewing, hiring, orienting, counseling, disciplining and if necessary termination of employees. Expected to complete performance reviews annually and when necessary and comply with all regulatory agency requirements. Able to delegate assigned task to employees based on skill level and experience.

Expected to lead with a positive and supporting attitude as well as leading by example. Maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external customers - customers being defined as but not limited to:

Physicians, staff, management, administration of clinic and hospital leadership, public and external agencies. As a positive leader, individual will participate in planning, organizing, delegating, establishing of mission, goals and advancement of the organization as well as the Patient Financial Services office. Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment showing excellent decision making and problem solving skills. Communication skills are a core pre-requisite to this position.

Competent in areas supervising. Have effective communication skills to articulate employee and patient concerns.Understand and demonstrate leadership capability, handle conflict and negotiation.

Able to collaborate with system entities, able to delegate work assignments; create a vision for the department. Be self directed, self motivated and be able to work in chaos and change.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Three years of Customer Service/Collections of comparable experience preferred.

Facility: 45th St Business Center - PFS Location: Fargo, ND Shift: 8 Hours - Day Shifts Job Schedule: Full time Weekly Hours: 40.00 Job Summary Primarily concerned with the billing and collection of accounts receivable. Coordinates activities with third party agencies, insurance companies and patients. Conducts follow-up on delinquent accounts and on Accounts Receivable Aging Analysis to ensure all accounts are being worked. Handles calls from patients or responsible parties of accounts, as well as individuals who may be entering the hospital at a future date. Manually calculate patient portion of payment based on insurance benefits. Have good working knowledge of all collection policies set forth by the Accounts Receivable department. Handles incoming mail on all accounts within area of responsibility. May include producing written correspondence in answer to these inquiries. Responsible for follow-up on collection of account balances due, including contact by telephone with insurance companies and agents, other departments of the hospital, patients, etc. Collection notes are reviewed at appropriate time intervals for determination of further collection action and may include telephone contact or computer generated collection letters. Maintains accurate information in the computer system to document where the account is within the collection process. Good working knowledge of collection laws as well as requirements of collection agencies mandated under the FDCPA standards. Have good working knowledge of submission of claims for all payors. Considerable initiative and judgment involved in estimating credit risks, devising plans for payment and collecting delinquent accounts. Review accounts and determine when all collection efforts by the hospital have been exhausted and then refer the unpaid account on for further collection action with the collection agency. Work closely with the collection agency in providing accurate information to enable the collection agency to correctly handle accounts. The work day consists of 90-95% of time on the telephone either receiving calls or making collection calls to patients, physicians, departments or insurance companies. Use initiative, discretion and independent judgment in making decisions in varied situations as it relates to patient accounts. Be firm in a courteous and tactful manner in dealing with patients. Work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Strong communication skills. Be able to utilize all office equipment including personal computer and application software, printer, FAX, copier, multi-line telephone system. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style. Ability to use appropriate reference materials. Ability to multi-task. Familiarity with Data Processing capabilities and procedures is necessary. Department Details The hours for this position are 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Fridays. No evenings, weekends, or holidays. Incentive Program available. Qualifications Minimum of a high school education, however, some trade course classes in accounting, business and communications would be very helpful in this position.
