Purpose: Primary owner of the outbound carrier relationships and performance. Facilitates collaborative efforts with outbound carrier partners to review KPI's, identify opportunities for performance improvement, and drive results. Prepares and delivers carrier quarterly business reviews. Diversifies carrier base and leads new carrier on-boarding efforts. The ideal candidate has a background in TL, LTL, and small parcel logistics. Accountable for creating and achieving cost savings, cash flow improvements, capacity security, service performance and quality targets
Maintain and develop relationships with outbound domestic carriers (TL,LTL,Parcel, IM).
Review performance metrics (quality, speed, cost, etc.) for outbound transportation and derive improvements from them
Liaise with key stakeholders to provide visibility of transportation flows. Identify and communicate risk and develop risk mitigation solutions.
Develop and present routine carrier performance reports for senior leadership
Contribute strategic insights on networks design and improvements. Assist in driving enhancements to the network and processes.
Provide recommendations for outbound carrier process improvements
Assist in the development of fact-based negotiation tools and strategies to achieve the lowest Total Cost of Ownership
Support SCM Finance in the development of Transportation financial models and provide logic for cost drivers.
Support the development of transportation forecast models specific to peak seasons when carrier capacity is constrained.
Provide oversite of existing freight payment processes and ensure proper financial audits and funding are occurring.
Attend carrier onsite visits and weekly phone calls to discuss outbound carrier performance
Recruit and onboard, negotiate contracts and train new providers for all outbound modes of transportation
Participate/lead global projects/initiatives as needed.
Involved in the development and execution of department strategy and setting of team goals
Internally: Purchasing, Origin Planning, Transportation, Distribution, Finance, and all brands and business units
Externally: US Carriers (TL, LTL, Small Parcel)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Excellent analysis and data management skills with demonstrated ability to organize data and extract insights in a logical manner
Attention to detail and ability to navigate systems to obtain data required.
Strong project management skills
Knowledge of Transportation process.
A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, MS Access, MicroStrategy, GT Nexus, and Tableau.
A consensus building, upbeat leader
Ability to take ownership of a project, prioritizes effectively, and ultimately drives the project through to completion.
Self-motivated, high energy that can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment.
Comfortable working with cross-functional teams across multiple businesses
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both formal and informal communications
Must have strong verbal and presentation skills; to conduct meetings and make presentations to senior leaders/project teams
Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management/Logistics.
5 or more years of experience in the supply chain or logistics industry or finance.
Six Sigma and/or Master's degree preferred.
