Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

(1) Supervise the planning, developing and monitoring of occupational and physical therapy services to ensure the quality service and to advocate for appropriate use of therapy services;

(2) Collaborate with the Director of Special Education Programs and Services to ensure compliance with accreditation, certification and government standards;

(3) Assist in selection, orientation and training of staff, students and volunteers;

(4) Encourage professional growth through staff development;

(5) Work with all therapists in decided to load distribution;

(6) Monitor schedules of occupational and physical therapists;

(7) Develop and monitor the budget for OT & PT Departments with assistance from the Director of Special Education Programs and Services;

(8) Provide for acquisition, care and maintenance of physical facilities, supplies and equipment.

(9) Convey personnel, fiscal, professional and program needs to the Director of Special Education Programs and Services based upon input from department staff;

(10) Supervise the development, implementation, monitoring of department policies and procedures in collaboration with Director of Special education Programs and services;

(11) Coordinate specific activities for special projects;

(12) Facilitate collaboration and positive communication among OT/PT Department staff and education programs;

(13) Collaborate with the Director of Special Education Programs and Services to complete staff evaluations;

(14) Serve as a member of the designated Special Education Team, and participate in any other assigned meetings as related to position;

(15) Perform additional duties as designated by the Director of Special Education Programs and Services.

Assistive Technology Department:

Responsiblities:

(1) Supervise the planning, development and monitoring of the district's Assistive Technology services.

(2) Supervise staff assigned to the Assistive Technology Department.

(3) Collaborate with the Director of Special Education Compliance and Monitoring to conduct staff evaluations of Assistive Technology Facilitator(s).

(4) Develop and monitor the budget for Assistive Technology Department with assistance from the Director of Special Education Compliance and Monitoring

(5) Provide ongoing Professional Development to all staff including AT staff and to students on assistive technology.

(6) Monitor the schedules and daily operations of AT staff to ensure maximum effectiveness.

(7) Monitor student use of assistive technology devices and software.

(8) Collaborate and consult with staff on assistive technology evaluations.

(9) Maintain the Assistive Technology inventory within the buildings.

(10) Act as the district's liaison to the Infinitec North Coalition and other AT agencies and companies.

(11) Monitor and evaluate the functioning of assistive technology devices or software and arrange for any necessary repairs or replacements.

(12) Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education Compliance and Monitoring.

Qualifications: Certified as an OTR or PTR, Licensed in the state of Illinois, Three years of experience as an OTR or PTR in a school system.

Salary: Salary Structure

Additional Information: 40 weeks, 8 hours per day. Follows benefits assigned ot OT/PT Department staff.
