The Manager of Technical Accounting will have responsibility for researching and assessing technical accounting matters and preparing written accounting position papers for review by management and external auditors. This individual will report to the Director of Technical Accounting and will consult often with relevant stakeholders, including the Vice President of Accounting and Financial Reporting, Chief Accounting Officer, external and internal auditors, as well as to individuals working in other functional or commercial business areas, including but not limited to, Business Development and Legal.
Your daily responsibilities include
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of technical accounting position papers for complex transactions including reading underlying agreements, performing technical research and preparing memoranda to support conclusions reached for review by management and external auditors
Actively research new and existing accounting literature on GAAP and ensure business units are in compliance with the accounting standards, including preparation of related memoranda ensuring appropriate accounting for actual and proposed transactions
Assist in accounting policies of new product offerings and new business ventures, including those within the technology and online space
Assist in the assessment of complex leasing arrangements under ASC 842
Assist in the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards
Assist in the preparation of ASC 350 and ASC 360 impairment analyses
Serve as a Company-wide technical accounting resource for ad-hoc questions and initiative
Work directly with internal auditors on specific requests
Assist in the preparation and communication of accounting policies
Oversee, coordinate and support other ad hoc projects as they arise
Perform other related duties as assigned
To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or similar field
5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience
5+ years with a Big 4 accounting firm or national accounting firm
Ability to work in fast paced environment on multiple assignments with tight deadlines, particularly at quarter ends
Ability to work in a team environment and work with other functions (e.g. financial reporting, tax, financial planning and analysis, etc.)
Individual will need to enjoy working on new challenges
Expert knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, SEC rules and regulations, and other technical accounting requirements, trends and best practices
Operate autonomously and well under pressure
