The Manager of Standards and Certification will lead the NEMA Motor Division efforts in compliancy with relevant federal, industry, and safety regulations and standards in targeted markets. Reporting to the Director of R&D - Mechanical, you will Pursue or maintain the necessary appropriate certifications or qualifications to allow marking of product for placement into targeted markets or applications.
Coordinate with Product Management to identify target markets and applications for which certification or qualifications are required.
Coordinate with and be the main point of contact with third party certification and accreditation bodies (e.g., UL, CSA, Sira, DOE, NRCAN, ANCE, etc.).
Interface between NEMA engineering and certifiers.
Pursue certifications or certifications updates as required.
Assist in interpretation of regulations, standards, and certifications with respect to product design, safety, and marking requirements.
Provide training and mentoring to engineering and product management on regulatory or certification requirements or changes.
Develop certification roadmaps to plan and maintain our access to identified markets with effective and cost-efficient certification or registrations.
Partner with certifiers to help them understand ABB's model and needs to assist them in developing methodologies and roadmaps that best meet ABB's needs.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and minimum 15 years of related experience in product certification in the NEMA motor market.
Experience in motor testing requirements and processes for certification or regulatory compliance.
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
