Job Summary
The Manager of Sales Planning and Category Management is responsible for bringing Nutraceutical Marketing initiatives with designated brands to life through flawless execution with retail customers through close, day to day collaboration with Brand and channel sales teams. Additionally, the Manager of Sales Planning and Category Management will be responsible for engaging with brand teams to develop all sales materials and collateral information, and may include customer presentations and selling sheets, category and brand insights and selling stories, brand priorities by channel and key customer, and retailer recommendations with regard to pricing, promotion, assortment and shelf placement
Essential Functions
Work closely with sales leadership to identify growth opportunities by brand and channel and develop appropriate programs to achieve results
Trade Marketing planning and strategy - work with internal marketing, sales and creative teams to develop relevant channel displays and other POP to use to support key seasonal promotions as well as supporting major retailer initiatives.
Designs and develops in store merchandising / Food, Drug, and Mass solutions that serve and align with brand initiatives and individual customer needs such as displays, rack, modules, coupons, customer database programs and other opportunities
Contributes to the annual business plan process by providing guidance on in store strategies that achieve brand objectives
Owns and communicates Trade Marketing production timelines to all relevant stakeholders including specific brand teams, sales leadership, operations, logistics, supply chain and vendor partners.
Collaborates with cross functional departments including: Operations, Field Sales and Brand Marketing Teams to deliver projects on-time, on-budget that exceed customer expectations.
Drives Nutraceutical Trade Marketing strategies through regular market visits, customer/ sales team meetings
Works closely with brand teams and sales leadership to create "best-in-class" selling materials such as new item presentations, sell sheets, and category review templates for major customers
Stays up to date on industry trend analysis, competitive activity and changing shopper behaviors through industry publications, events and insights reports and communicates these business insights to all stakeholders within the company.
Directs the creation of sales presentations sell sheets for new items and promotional drives with designated brand teams and communicates out to field sales.
Analyze data to identify opportunities and gaps by key retailers, channel and brand in terms of distribution expansion, promotion and/or pricing elements
Develop standard sales POS reports to deliver monthly to all field sales, upper management and brand groups
Develop new item selling stories using SPINS, IRI, Nielsen and other category management inputs available
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 5 year's consumer goods industry experience with focus on Category Management, Trade Marketing, and Sales Planning is required
Exceptional communication skills, including presenting, writing and collaboration abilities
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment are a must
Conscientious, strong attention to detail, self-starting
Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
3 years' experience working with syndicated data providers such as IRI, Nielsen and SPINS
Strong planning, prioritization, and project management competencies
Travel up to 35%, post COVID.
The office is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. If the candidate does not live in Utah, he/she is required to be there for in-person meetings with the team on a regular basis. There will also be attendance expected at sales meetings, key retailer market meetings, trade shows and in-store visits throughout the year, etc
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and talk or hear.
The employee must exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, field of vision. Maintain good hygiene.
