Manager of Major Gifts & Collection Development (Regular, Full-Time)
Development
Reporting to the Senior Director of Collection Development and Exhibition Support, The Manager of Major Gifts and Collection Development provides key case and proposal development, and front line support to implement the visioning, planning, and fundraising for LACMA's strategic collection building priorities and exhibition support goals. The Manager of Major Gifts and Collection Development supports all functions related to the museum's collection development activities by liaising with curatorial staff, development colleagues, galleries, collectors, and donors. For exhibitions, this position coordinates exhibitions plans and goals to target individuals for exhibitions support, working with curatorial and development staff to identify the short- and long-term exhibition needs and prospective donors to increase overall support for the exhibitions program.
In addition, the Manager will support individual prospect managers with proposals, pledge documents and high-level administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
Writes and prepares proposals and oversees the design of materials for soliciting gifts of art, acquisition funds, and exhibition support gifts as well as any funding proposals needed by Major Gift team
Prepares exhibition-related materials and proposals
Contributes to the researching and benchmarking of gifts-of-art programs and acquisition fund development at peer institutions
Participates in the continual review and refinement of the museum's stewardship policies for gifts of art and manages collection development stewardship plans
Collaborates with curators, development staff and volunteer leadership to understand exhibition support needs
and create long-term cultivation and solicitation plans
Schedules meetings to discuss exhibition and funding with curatorial development staff
Collaborates with development research staff on general exhibition prospect research
Monitors donor fulfillment and initiates ongoing stewardship activities for current exhibition contributors
Manages all stewardship and crediting for donors for exhibitions
Supports Major Gifts Team with pledge paperwork, and tracks and manages pledges
Assists with event programming for the Museum's Future Arts Collective, a fund that supports exhibitions and acquisitions and enjoys monthly studio, gallery and collection visits

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Art History or related field
At least 3-5 years of experience with nonprofit fundraising including writing and proposal development, cultivation, and solicitation as well as gift closure
Ability to interact gracefully and strategically with all levels of volunteers, donors, staff and the public
A motivated, creative and proactive self-starter who shows proven follow through
A team player and good listener
Excellent communicator both verbally and written
Experience using Tessitura
