As a newly created role, the Manager of Maintenance Control and Planning will be the newest addition to our extremely multi-talented team of aircraft mechanics. This position will have the authority to establish, implement or modify the Maintenance Control process. This role is best suited for someone who craves constantly taking on new challenges, who excels at problem-solving, and thrives when managing multiple projects simultaneously. Every day is a little bit different as the Manager of Maintenance Planning and Control supports our fleet both on and offsite. Supervisor experience, ability to multitask and prioritize and a strong maintenance background are key factors for success for the Manager of Maintenance Control and Planning at Ventura Air Services.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Maintains close liaison with the Operations Department to provide current maintenance status of aircraft, forecast down time for scheduled maintenance and mechanical irregularities
  • Evaluate reported aircraft discrepancies and develop appropriate recovery plan (AOG)
  • Conducts maintenance planning and coordinates scheduled maintenance requirements between maintenance and operations
  • Plans and coordinates the application of inspection methods, including NDT methods and procedures to ensure the safe, reliable performance of the Companys aircraft
  • Convey high level of technical support to flight crews and MX vendors in person and via telephone
  • Administer and control use of Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Configuration Deviation List (CDL) to ensure flight safety and regulatory compliance
  • Responsible for releasing aircraft for RTS in accordance w/ company and FAA guidelines
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to perform maintenance (Clear MELs or preventative mx) when operational schedules permit
  • Determine and supply required manuals and tasks for aircraft repair to vendors
  • Take necessary actions for reporting aircraft data, aircraft engine data, and other required reports


  • Experience reviewing aircraft work packages to ensure compliance with all applicable FARs and General Maintenance Manual procedures
  • Experience coordinating administrative processes for aircraft ferry permit authorization
  • Determine and supply required manuals and tasks for aircraft repair to vendors
  • Experience coordinating engine and APU forecasts, movements, spares allocation, and equipment shipping
  • Ability to plan and schedule aircraft through all phases of assigned maintenance
  • Seasoned A&P mechanic with 10+ years of diversified experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively through face to face, telephone and email interactions
  • Ability to delegate when appropriate and necessary
  • Calm, focused ability to troubleshoot and ask probing questions
  • Ability to navigate a variety of technological platforms simultaneously
  • Proven ability to exercise considerable independent judgment in solving unusual work problems

VIEW JOBS 2/24/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-05-25T00:00 The Maintenance Planning Supervisor position is responsible for assisting with the development of reliability based maintenance strategy, based on preventive and predictive maintenance. They will work directly with the Maintenance Manager to build a reliable maintenance team. The Supervisor will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. The Supervisor position requires hands on maintenance experience. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. * Maintain equipment records in SAP * Plan and Schedule Corrective work to maximize crew utilization and effectiveness. * Coordinate outside service request, establish purchase orders, ensure purchase orders are closed and manage expenses within budget requirements. * Use computers and associated software programs such as Word and Excel to plan maintenance activities and develop training documents. Utilize Visio to create process flow charts. * Track metrics, performance, and efficiency of work scheduled using spreadsheets and graphs as well as document in report format, PowerPoint slides, and on bulletin boards. * Read and comprehend technical manuals, service manuals, diagrams, blueprints and schematics. * Proactively works with other plants (at the direction of Manager) to ensure predictive and preventative plans are uniform on like equipment. * Manage predictive and preventive maintenance for an area of production equipment and schedule required corrective actions. * Ensure production areas are maintained to current GMP standards. * Understands operations, procedures, inventory parts, LOTO, improvements, breakdown analysis, PM's, 5S, etc. within the production area. * May supervise clerical staff in support of computer maintenance system and planning functions. * Maintains equipment repair records in compliance with company policy. * Oversee and coordinate maintenance personnel who maintain and repair electrical. Plumbing, ventilation and other building systems. * Oversee projects assigned by the maintenance manager. * Respond to calls from production immediately and assign appropriate personnel to handle the call. * Responsible for evaluating problematic systems, equipment and facilities and determining if installation or repair service is needed to be performed. * Answer emergency calls when off shift and make sure that appropriate personnel respond to the call. * Schedule maintenance personnel so there is no gap in facility coverage. * Train and cross train maintenance personnel so that all maintenance personnel can perform various maintenance jobs. * Must be willing to work a changing shift schedule and on a rotating weekend on call list. * Off-shift, weekend and Holiday work may be required. Required Skills * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through on the job training or experience. Required Experience * 3-5 years maintenance supervision and planning experience in a processing and packaging manufacturing environment preferred. * Ability to build and use maintenance library for repairs. * Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering documents, drawings, schematics. * Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication. * Result-driven, problem solving mind-set with basic experience of continuous improvement. * Ability to manage multiple conflicting demands and to prioritize accordingly. * Project management skills is a plus. * Good Manufacturing Practices * SAP experience is a plus. Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to temperatures of cold and warm along with wearing the proper PPE, with standard office equipment available along with plant manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
