The Manager will provide support services for all three cultural centers located in the lntercultural Collective suite in the Schine Student Center: Multicultural Affairs (OMA), Disability Cultural Center (DCC), and the LGBTQ Resource Center (LGBTQ). The Manager will oversee the high-level administrative functions of OMA (including the Native Student Support Program), DCC and the LBGTQ, supervise student employees, coordinate office functions, and manage administrative and financial paperwork including personnel records and payroll. They will assist in providing support services/resources for graduate and undergraduate students who are stakeholders of the lntercultural Collective.

The Manager will also provide administrative support to the Executive Director of lntercultural Engagement. They are responsible for maintaining close working relationships with IC's student groups and programs, and a variety of offices and academic departments of the University. The individual in this position must have a keen sense of civic engagement in dealing with the broader Syracuse community. As the lead frontline staff for IC, the Manger will demonstrate an appreciation and sensitivity to the concerns of students and general diversity issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • High School diploma is required.

  • Three (3) plus years of work experience in Office Management, Budget Management, Administrative Support, or other similar positions required.

  • Experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds required.

Job Specific Qualifications

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft365 (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams) and Zoom.

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deal with multiple demands.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail is a must.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and exercise independent judgment is required.

  • Appreciation and sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage/supervise IC's general office and operational processes and procedures in consultation with the Executive Director of Intercultural Engagement.

  • Manage/supervise the IC suite to always ensure its readiness for unanticipated visitors and tourists.

  • Manage and support the fiscal planning of OMA, DCC, and the LGBTQ under the direction of their respective Directors. Assist the DCC, LGBTQ, and OMA office coordinators with fiscal planning, ongoing financial tracking and projections in their respective areas.

  • Develop, implement, and review IC operational policies and procedures for the suite.

  • Assist the directors in coordinating joint lntercultural Collective initiatives.

  • Work with IC directors in assessing and analyzing departmental budgets to find ways to minimize joint expenses for the suite such as paper, printer, coffee, water, and general supplies.

  • Serve as the IC point person with Student Centers and Programming Services for day-to-day operations as needed.

  • Provide administrative support for joint IC meetings.

  • Manage IC communication platforms (e.g., websites, social media, e-newsletters, etc.) in consultation with IC staff and ESE Marketing and Communications.

  • Manage budgets for joint IC programs and initiatives, including those supported by co-curricular fee funding.

  • Work with directors to identify potential challenges and work to find solutions to have a surpassing student experience in the lntercultural Collective suite.

  • Monitors Executive Director's budget to include reconciliation of expenditures and procurement card verification statements.

  • Calendar management and appointment scheduling.

  • Prepare meeting materials and keep meeting minutes.

  • Manage IC Suite.

  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise all front desk student employees.

  • Oversee all hiring and payroll processes (in collaboration with Student Employment, ESE Budget Office, and HR), onboarding, and scheduling of undergraduate and graduate student staff.
