General Description:

As a member of the Firm's Knowledge and Innovation Department, and more specifically within the Pricing & Legal Project Management (LPM) Group, the role of Manager of Legal Project Management is to provide lawyers, clients and support staff guidance on matter management best practices and tools, ensuring that client relationships are supported and matters are executed efficiently. This role is responsible for building and enhancing the firm's process, functionality, and visibility to client and matter level projects and account management, under the guidance and direction of the Director of Pricing & LPM, and in collaboration with the Manager of Pricing.

The Pricing and LPM Group works in conjunction with Marketing and Business Development to collaborate with firm attorneys to develop and execute strategies that support the client journey and ensure a seamless end-to-end client experience. The Group supports this objective through the execution of its key functional areas including legal operations, business intelligence and insights, strategic pricing, and legal project management. The Manager of Legal Project Management will enhance and evolve the firm's LPM journey, as well as collaborate with various partners across the firm to pilot discrete client account and project management protocols.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Advising the Director of Pricing & LPM on best practices that impact client account management, client service and delivery, and project/matter scope management

  • Leading complex projects, for the Pricing & LPM Group and Firm Practice Groups, including the facilitation of goals and objectives, as well as managing project execution activities and implementation of deadlines

  • Establishing and partnering with a network of peers in Finance, Business Development, Practice Development, Knowledge Management and other staff support teams to design and deliver innovative solutions to lawyers and clients and facilitate process improvement

  • Evaluating current infrastructure and processes for the firm's LPM journey, identifying areas of opportunity and improvement; building out the firm's LPM capability, influencing Partners and key stakeholders to adopt LPM on their matters

  • Developing, initiating and leading a targeted pilot program with the Director of Pricing & LPM, encompassing a robust process for hands-on client and matter management

  • Through close collaboration with Holland & Knight lawyers and support staff, develops a strong understanding of one or more of the firm's practices, including its strategic priorities, areas of legal focus, major clients and challenges; aligns support and service delivery with practice priorities

  • Collaborating with the department's Knowledge Management team to synthesize data for operational impact, process improvement, and client service effectiveness to drive cross functional business opportunities

  • Collaborating with the department's Strategic Pricing team to analyze matter and fee data to inform opportunities for enhancing the client experience, firm revenue, and profitability

  • Special project and duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to make persuasive arguments to move toward a common vision or goal

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • 5 progressive years in legal project management

  • 2 years managing and directing the work of others, measuring, and managing performance and supervising employees

  • Experience using database and reporting tools and technology for client and matter analysis and measuring

  • Ability to cultivate and foster relationships and serve as a trusted advisor at all levels of the organization

  • Possess a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team and ability to lead, influence and motivate others

  • Willingness and ability to develop deep understanding of practice areas and the clients and industries we support

  • Strong focus on client service and responsiveness

  • Ability to work in a consultative manner

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • Masters, JD or other advanced degree preferred
  • PMP or similar Project Management experience preferred

This position may be filled in New York. In accordance with the New York State Pay Transparency Law and New York City Human Rights Law, the pay range for this position in New York State is $110,300k - $198,600k/yr and in New York City is $132,400k - $198,600k/yr. These ranges are specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.
