Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsibilities include oversight to infection control program for the hospital including surveillance for and prevention and control of healthcare associated and community acquired infections among patients. Performs data analysis which guides follow-up activities and evaluates effectiveness of control measures. Reports to various hospital and medical staff committees. Complies with mandatory public reporting elements and leads initiatives for improving infection prevention and reporting both mandatory and voluntary projects. Provides leadership in the implementation of Corporate infection control/prevention initiatives. Develops and revises hospital policy and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and based on evidenced based practices from CDC and JCAHO. Works with hospital departments and local public health agencies to develop and implement preparedness programs related to bioterrorism and communicable disease threats. Participates in hospital wide orientation and department specific in-service education programs. Collaborates with Employee Health Manager for all issues that are related to infection control.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a school of nursing, BSN Preferred

• Current MO RN license, or compact

• Certified in Infection Control (CIC) must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date

• Two years hospital nursing experience, minimum one-year experience in infection control preferred.
