POSITION SUMMARY

The EVS Manager is responsible for the oversight and delegation of responsibilities of the EVS department. Supports the Director in managing the operational needs of all departments and help train staff in accordance with JCAHO guidelines. Provides direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure that high level of cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the EVS, Linen, and Transport departments and manage supervisory staff.

  • Provide training to supervisory staff to ensure full accountability for respective responsibilities.

  • Oversee the staff selection process and anticipate facility's needs in accordance with hours and position control

  • Ensure all person personnel are assigned to established work areas or project duties

  • Plan and coordinate project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained

  • Develop film and resource library. Translate materials into Spanish. Prepare or purchase new films/ materials as needed.

  • Report unsafe conditions and conduct research to improve EVS technology.

  • Collect supervision rounds forms and supervision team meeting minutes forms; compile, review and present to

  • Department Head.

  • Coordinate all outside services relative to the EVS department (i.e. Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical Waste, Solid Waste, Document Destruction and Recycling program.

  • Provide monthly administrative progress reports relative to short-term accomplishments, future short-term plans and staff education/training.

  • Ensure that staff receive proper orientation, initial training and ongoing education

  • Ensure duty lists are revised and current at all times. Review duty lists with regular and relief associates periodically

  • Ensure that proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all chemicals

  • Use a proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality assurance concerns. Timely follow-up is required

  • Host and participate in departmental staff meetings. Attend ongoing staff development and training courses as offered by company and facility

  • Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to associates to enable each one to perform to his/her fullest potential

  • Provide supervisory staff with proper training with disciplinary process and ensure fair progressive disciplinary plans are carried out.

  • Monitor and oversee time and attendance for respective departments

  • Keep records and appropriate log books current and maintain all necessary documentation. Monitor service binders in assigned areas on a daily basis taking appropriate action to client concerns/comments

  • Participate in facility Quality Assurance Program as required. Ensure high quality percentage of clean is maintained in areas of assignment.

  • Oversee and Perform Quality Assurance Inspections.

  • Manage equipment usage and maintenance.

  • Prepare associate disciplinary and variance reports and conduct follow-up investigation as needed, reporting findings to Director. Prepare disciplinary action notices and conduct follow-up as required. Conduct disciplinary meetings with associates with guidance from leadership.

  • Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action including timely follow-up

  • Participate in associate performance evaluations and make recommendations as needed. Conduct associate performance evaluations with guidance and approval from appropriate assistant director

  • Participate in department safety and maintain a safe work environment at all times. Report all unsafe equipment and acts to appropriate assistant director

  • Assure that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times

  • Handle special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned

  • Ensure EVS office, storage and closets are clean, organized, well maintained and professional in appearance at all times

  • Manages, edits, and approves department timecards utilizing Kronos.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A. Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

B. Qualifications/Experience

  • 5 years of management experience in Environmental services in a hospital setting. Experience with Transport and Linen highly preferred.

C. Special Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
