JOB DESCRIPTION:

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

Provide global market analysis and negotiation support to Abbott Nutrition (AN) Purchasing and Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) organizations. This position must stay well versed on macro & micro economic trends and their impact on material costs. Key functions include:

  • Establish critical financial targets for commodity pricing & Purchase Price Variance (PPV) performance.

  • Provide analytical support for corporate financial cycles as well as adhoc analysis for new manufacturing sites, commercial pricing strategies, contract negotiations and other requests from all levels of the organization.

  • Accurately forecast price trends and proactively communicate impact. This would include but not limited to formal market updates highlighting trends, key drivers, current prices and any material shifts in the market outlook.

  • Position will participate in critical supplier negotiations and meetings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1.MARKET ANALYTICAL ANALYSIS:

Position is fully accountable for all market analytics tied to assigned category. These market analytics

help form the baseline foundation of the Abbott Nutrition (AN) financial and strategic plans, as well as AN's position in negotiations, a deep understanding of the economic environment, and short and long-term industry trends.
2.BUILD, ANALYZE AND MAINTAIN MARKET FORECSATS:

Data accuracy and integrity are key, as these forecasts are used to measure and project AN's financial risk /exposure / opportunity for short and long-term decisions.

  • Market Consensus Models are used to calculate a long term expected price curve for a given commodity, based on trends in underlying cost drivers (Raw Materials, Energy, Labor, Inflation, Processing, Profit Margin, Freight). They can indicate how "fair" are current contract price offers and identify need for long or short strategic moves to protect AN from volatility.

  • Cost Modeling support of individual contract negotiations and analyze the differences and similarities between suppliers within the same market.
    3.NEGOTIATION / CONTRACT ANALYSIS

Analyze value / risk of different contract price models and strategies, and recommends optimal contract structure given global and regional variables. Position will advise if it is it in AN's best interests to secure a long-term or short-term fixed price, execute a financial hedge, etc.

  • The incumbent needs to have a sound understanding of the global economic landscape and the implications of changes (both planned & unplanned).

  • Position participates / presents market positions and/or price models, in key supplier negotiations.

  • May perform other duties as assigned

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Portfolio Expansion Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) Quality Assurance Manager assures that the proper food safety and quality controls are instituted and maintained by third party manufacturers for all incoming, in-process materials, and finished product utilizing powder, retort, and aseptic operation processes. This position has the overall responsibility to maintain high quality levels on all products while achieving high efficiency. The manager is responsible for the review and confirmation of TPM GMP compliance, manufacturing quality, laboratory support, product testing and release, vendor quality, documentation, label control and quality planning. Post-production responsibilities may also include product surveillance throughout shelf life and monitoring and remediation of consumer complaints. Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives: * Provides QA and technical support to Abbott Nutrition (AN) Third Party Manufacturers (TPM), TPM Operations, affiliates and other AN stakeholders. * The Quality Manager, Portfolio Expansion will be responsible for all portfolio expansion activities related to one or more specific TPM accounts within the global TPM portfolio; * Identifies and resolves quality issues for AN TPM products related to design, manufacturing quality programs and product start-ups at TPM's; * Provides support to global nutritional and NPI project teams; * Identifies and help resolve key quality issues; * Ensures compliance and continuous improvement of audit and metric performance; * Responsible for overall quality and safety of Abbott Nutrition products manufactured at those facilities; * Assures Ingredient/packaging supplier approval and compliance at the TPM Major Responsibilities: * Support disposition of product batches, facilitate investigations, troubleshoot and resolve quality issues in close cooperation with the AN TPM Operations team. * Establish a robust long term working relationship and ensure TPM start project activities are carried out within the agreed targets with the assigned TPM's. * Work with project management on global nutritional project teams as assigned (e.g. New Product Introduction projects, Margin and Profitability Initiatives and Ingredient/packaging projects, to identify key quality issues and support product launches in various global markets.) * Utilize understanding of QA systems and problem-solving tools to provide alternative solutions to quality issues. * Develop, implement and improve quality systems at the new TPM's, which ensure: AN policy and regulatory compliance, Initiation and review of Quality Documentation, Quality and Safety of AN products, Satisfactory performance on Metrics requirements, Training as required for Abbott Quality systems. Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Bacteriology or other technical degree is required. Master's Degree preferred but not required. * Candidate must have demonstrated leadership skills/competencies with track record of success. Excellent communication skills are also essential for this role. * Spanish speaking skills are a plus. * Eight to ten years of direct experience in nutritional or allied industry is required. The incumbent must possess a thorough knowledge of and have experience in application of GMP regulations. * Communications skills, tack and diplomacy are critical to the performance of position requirements. * Excellent problem solving, decision making skills are also critical to this position, since the technology for many of Abbott's products are unique.
