The manager is responsible for monitoring Capital Projects / Asset Management (CPAM) compliance with accounting policies and procedures, performing monthly capital updates / reporting, and supervising CPAM staff. This position is the initial owner of the capital forecasting model for annual and quarterly financial reporting requirements and cash flow modeling. Responsible for identifying process improvements, capital policy modifications, process transparency to the business, staff development, budgeting, and ownership of Integration Project Plans for Acquisitions.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuous System & Process Improvements Reimagine Project Costing / Asset Management / Excel / Coupa functionality to reduce manual processes and gain efficiencies for both CPAM and the Business.

  • Manage Business Communication & Support Ensure timely communication / transparency / education of capital policy / processes across key stakeholders including Procurement, IT, field analysts / project managers, Corporate FP&A, and Senior Management. Lead capital update trainings to various stakeholders as needed.

  • Financial Statement Accuracy

  • Monitor CPAM compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Enforce policies and internal controls across the business.
  • Leadership Skills Development
  • Manage / train / develop staff responsible for capital related reconciliations, audit (yearly / quarterly) preparations, forecasts, and general asset management transactions. Provide support to CPAM Director during Balance Sheet Review, Month End Pre-Close, JIRA meetings.
  • Capex Forecasting
  • Includes actuals update, analysis, and working with key stakeholders to identify potential risks / opportunities. Lead monthly business reviews with the Senior Finance Leadership team for alignment prior to CFO review. Create monthly Capital Update presentation for the CFOs review.
  • Depreciation Forecasting
  • Monthly updates including variance analysis. Own 5 year depreciation model for cash flow purposes.
  • Budgeting Work with CPAM Director to accurately budget Gain / Loss, Property Taxes, and Depreciation & Amortization

  • Integration Project Plan Owner for Acquisitions

  • Create project plan, work with stakeholders, identify / communicate potential risks, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting Requests Provide various reporting / analysis requests for CPAM Director / Sr. Tax Director as needed (including quarterly BOD presentation materials for tax team).

  • Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Accounting/Finance, or related field with minimum of 3 years of progressive/management work experience in a fast paced environment

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills, organized, detail-oriented and thorough with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proven ability to interact with senior leadership within the organization.

  • Strong financial, IT and analytical skills coupled with operational focus. Proven track record and a good level of comfort with driving innovation & leading organizational changes.

  • Experience building and leading highly effective teams

Lead the asset management strategy across the Mountain Division, including oversight of the physical assets (Lifts, Snowmaking, Fleets etc.), leadership of best practices, development of capital plans, implementation of an Enterprise Asset Management program (EAM) and ongoing execution and expansion of the program to drive value for Vail Resorts.  This individual will be responsible for driving * Reliability of assets for safety and guest satisfaction. * Savings in capital and operating expense through optimizing asset life, reduced cost of major maintenance, reduced inventory levels and centralized inventory management of large components. * Procurement efficiencies and savings. * Labor efficiencies through proactive planned maintenance and administrative efficiencies. This role will also be responsible to create multi-year capital plans for large operating assets, providing enterprise oversight to maintenance functions and development of best practices.    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES; * Drive, align and execute innovation and development of new practices that will allow Vail Resorts to lead the industry in how we maintain our infrastructure. * Develop and implement asset management policies, procedures, processes and best practices for mountain division maintenance functions, including owning change management. * Serve as project lead and business owner for the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) implementation and program oversight, including development of a plan and structure for the ongoing support and administration of EAM program. * Assist in the development, preparation and management of annual capital and operating budgets including oversight of on time and on project execution. * Develop, identify and maintain key supplier relationships. * Support new acquisitions for lift, fleet and snowmaking infrastructure. * Develop and utilize key performance indicators to monitor and report departmental or functional performance and drive accountability, including assessing performance against benchmarks. * Partner with procurement and finance on opportunities for savings utilizing data insights from multiple systems. * Strategize with procurement on due diligence, negotiating and bidding for new assets. * Partner with IT to ensure technology is optimized and configured to achieve business objectives. * This role reports directly to the President of the Mountain Division and will have at least two direct reports and many internal stakeholders   JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience * 10+  years of Maintenance and Project Management * 5+ years of supervisory experience * Six sigma certification * Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office * Project management programs * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Depth of Project Management experience (leading large capital projects) * Experience with management of capital assets * Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task * Familiarity with ski and snowboard products We offer a variety of career opportunities at our world-class resorts and corporate headquarters near Boulder, Colorado in fields like Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Public Affairs & Sustainability, Marketing, Sales & Communications and more.
