Under the direction of the CHRO, this position is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of all employee benefit programs. Working with employees, vendors and others to ensure the University benefit programs are utilized according to policy and regulations.This is not a remote position.

This position can be located at either our Big Rapids Campus or our Grand Rapids Campus. If the incumbent is working from our Grand Rapids Campus, they will be required to work in Big Rapids a minimum of 3 days per week. Position Type:

Staff Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of Business, Management or Human Resources. Required Work Experience: Three years professional experience in Human Resource Management that included at least three years experience managing/implementing employee benefits.

Experience in leading benefit discussions.

Experience with working with third party benefit systems.

Extensive experience with leave management programs systems.

Working knowledge of FMLA & Benefit regulations and requirements

Knowledge/work experience in Microsoft Office and HRIS software. Required Licenses and Certifications: Physical Demands:

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: PHR, SPHR and/or CEBS certification, preferred.

Experience working with self-insured benefit programs.

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferred. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of all employee benefit programs (Health, Dental, Vision, HSA, FSA, Wellness, Tuition, Retirement, etc.)

Responsible for coordinating annual open enrollments for employee groups.

Responsible for processing and reconciling all monthly benefit invoices.

Responsible for administrating and coordinating the employee Wellness Program

Responsible for administrating and coordinating all leave programs for the University.

Responsible for coordinating all retirement plans.

Responsible for completing any reporting, including 1095's.

Responsible for conducting periodic audits of benefit plans.

Responsible for completing all required benefit surveys.

Responsible for coordinating and completion of all benefit information into a variety of systems both internal and external.

Responsible for administrating our COBRA program.

Responsible for monitoring and tracking OEA (other eligible adults).

Responsible for working with contracted carriers and/or plan administrators to study, formulate and provide recommendations on up-to-date and innovative trends in the field.

Responsible for remaining current on benefits issues and legal issues, advising the AVP

on such issues and recommending desirable policies and procedures to be considered.

Responsible for working with employees and vendors to resolve claim problems.

Responsible for accurate and plan information, developing rates, scenarios etc. for review.

Responsible to provide benefit information to employees and assist in resolving any related problems.

Responsible for development of methods of employee benefit communication.

Responsible to coordinate and conduct orientation sessions with new employees

Responsible for the implementation and/or coordinating of the development and maintenance of new and existing reports and projects.

Responsible the administration and coordination of the tuition waiver program.

Responsible for providing, and developing when necessary, a variety of management reports.

Responsible for carrying out all responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

May be responsible for training and supervision of assigned staff.

Reports to the Associate Vice President/CHRO.

Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.

Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Other duties as assigned. Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Participate in and/or chair various university committees.
