Job Description:

This position will utilize independent decision making to develop the processes related to admissions and recruitment operations and functionalities for LSU Vet Med including applicant and prospective student communications and data management. The position will collaborate with multiple units to determine efficiencies and solutions around integrations and practices to recommend to best practices for admissions and recruitment operations. Development of content expertise is expected to be able to advise best practices in veterinary admissions operations to internal/external admissions committee members, Vet Med leadership, student success team members, and other campus units or external stakeholder on demand.

Job Responsibilities:

35%

  • Admissions Process

  • Design, implement, and evaluate an innovative admissions operations processes that will accommodate the requirements of the program and integration of short/long term process changes. Primary contact for soliciting and tracking all candidate materials.

    Manages evolving statuses of 2,000+ applicants during the application cycle. Provides review of transcripts for prerequisite completion to applicants and prospective applicants. Assists in the administration of the application evaluation process.

    Generates reports admissions reports for accreditation, research, and other efforts requiring admissions data. Identifies and develops system needs, functionality, limitations of data integrations (e.g. Workday, Status Check System).

25% - Customer Service

  • Will manage potential and current applicant communications including current cycle and future application inquiries. Maintains an evolving understanding of the DVM program, admissions processes and admissions trends through admissions committee and national admissions community engagement (e.g.

    AAVMC) to address the current needs of prospective students. Maintains confidentiality of prospective applicant records, engagements, and communications. Manages transfer student applications, communications, and integrations for enrollment.

15% - Recruitment

  • Develop and uphold policy to manage individual and group visits to LSU Vet Med. Independently implement LSU Vet Med admissions outreach/recruitment activities as assigned (e.g., admissions presentations, tours, fairs, etc.). Create content for Admissions social media accounts.

    Manage admissions website design and content. Select, design, and maintain recruitment materials appropriate to the needs of the office with advisement from Strat. Comm.

  • Admissions Support

  • Plan, implement and execute special admissions related activities and events including showcase, interviews, advisor day, and the 2026 APVMA Symposium. Organize and properly record admissions committee meetings.

    Lead testing, feedback, and migration into the new Workday system that will be implemented campus-wide over the next few years. Will have authority to act on behalf of fiscal management. Provide input into budget process regarding operations including tracking expenditures as related to admissions materials, operations, and travel. Provide expertise advisement to the Assistant Dean of Veterinary Admissions.

  • Ambassador Program

  • Oversee the student ambassador program to leverage assistance with tours, presentations, and events. Advises student ambassadors on customer service standards, admissions operations, admissions policy and philosophy, and the importance the applicant pipeline as critical to the success of the DVM program. Oversight includes communications, scheduling, conflict management and resolution, training, and evaluation of service requirements.

  • Student Success

  • Student Services Related Activities: Support the Office of Admissions and Student Success with program duties as assigned in collaboration with other student success team members (e.g., graduation, coating, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a field related to communications, education, student services, admissions, public administration and 1 year of experience in higher education.

Specific Experience

  • Experience in an admissions, academic, or student affairs setting • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. Experience with Web Admit, the LSU Mainframe, or other enrollment management database.

Special and Physical Qualifications:

Vehicle Operation

  • University employees whose principal responsibilities of employment include operating a vehicle, performing maintenance on a vehicle, or supervising any public employee who operates or maintains a vehicle and positions with an expectation to travel will require an MVR and are subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

Minor Contact

  • This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.

FERPA

  • As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center.

    In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

Required to be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the shoulder, vision near sight, vision far sight, twisting, pushing/pulling, and squatting.
