Description The Safety and Quality Manager is accountable for the incident investigation and reporting process, and identifying, assessing, reporting, educating and recommending solutions to quality improvement and risk management issues. This individual may also address educational, certification and competency issues for the staff, and coordinates JCAHO and other regulatory standards and related initiatives through interdisciplinary communication with leadership.
Responsibilities Roles & Responsibilities: Oversees the coordination of activities for the Department of Nursing and Patient Care Services, Medical Affairs, and Hospital operations that assure alignment with the strategic initiatives for the department as well as compliance with Federal, State, and Joint Commission standards.
Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for performance improvement program within the framework of the Department of Patient Care Services; office of Medical Affairs and Hospital Operations.
Support the development of the Quality and Safety programs to enhance patient care and safety to minimize risk and patient harm. Oversees the completion of data collection and submission and reports to Nursing and senior leadership as appropriate (NDNQI; Readmissions; Hospital acquired infections) Works with the interdisciplinary team to identify problems, execute resolutions and sustain improvements, this includes follow up for corrective actions in all quality initiatives Develops, and/or implements a system whereby quality and effectiveness of care is defined, monitored, maintained, and/or improved Functions as in-house consultant for code and standards interpretation and quality goals Participates in the development of other staff members, specifically in the area of performance improvement, regulatory compliance and PCS practice standards Train and educate Nursing and Medical staff on all levels regarding principles of QI and quality improvement process including workshops Maintains current knowledge of quality improvement information to serve as an advisor to all staff and disseminate information as needed Collaborates with educators to plan, implement, and evaluate divisional and/or unit departmental educational programs Supports organizational commitment to quality, safety, and a Just Culture. Qualifications Requirements:
BSN degree required; Masters degree preferred Current NYS RN license and registration required BLS required (American Heart Association) Certification in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) preferred Knowledge of current quality/performance improvement standards.
Data management experience preferred with emphasis on data collection, tabulation and aggregation. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to work independently Non-Bargaining Unit, ACU - Nursing Administration
