Manager, Network Engineering

Job Duties

  • Responsible for lab and field testing of the next generation interconnection fabric for Optical, Ethernet, and IP services

  • Lead the testing of Layer 2 and Layer 3 of the interconnection product platforms

  • Provide input into the development of comprehensive test strategies that are inclusive of requirements across the interconnection networking organization and Product Management

  • Ensure that escaped defects seen in the field are adequately addressed from a process improvement perspective

  • Provide support in driving the development of tools used in laboratory that improve Equinix's testing capabilities and ensure network reliability and performance by contributing to the overall suite of tools

  • Present analysis of options and recommendation on decision to Sr. Director on lab test and validation before live network introduction

  • Use organization strategy set by upper management to determine how to implement level of automation needed to scale testing capability

  • Provide input into decision making on "make" versus "buy" for all testing automation

  • Supervise a team of Junior and Analyst level Test Engineers.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or foreign equivalent) and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or as a Software Test Engineer, Solutions Architect Customer Acceptance Test Engineer, or a related occupation.

  • In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or foreign equivalent) and five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or as a Software Test Engineer, Solutions Architect Customer Acceptance Test Engineer, or a related occupation.

Special Requirements

Must have at least two (2) years of experience in the following:

  • Cisco NCS 5500 Platforms with IOS-XR Software

  • Juniper MX 240, 480 and 960 Platforms with JUN OS Software

  • Arista 75xx series platforms with EOS SW

  • Open stack SW stack with Dell HW stack

  • Technology stack: MPLS / ISIS / BGP / L2 VPN, L3 VPN, OpenFlow, BFD, Segment routing ISIS, BGP

  • SDN concepts: REST API, NetConf/Yang, TOSC , Python scripting

  • Streaming telemetry, GPB / GRPC.
