Ready to apply? We currently have an opportunity for a Manager, Micro-services Engineering to join our team located at our Ascena Corp ETNA-ascena-Pataskala, OH 43062.
The Manager will lead a team of Microservices Architects and engineers/Analysts/Sr Developers for the delivery of new Microservices platform for all ascena brands and channels. This person will ensure teams meet all timelines for delivery. Key responsibilities include assigning, directing, and coordinating the work of the IT and Brands ecommerce staff to ensure high quality development and performance is delivered in the new Microservices based Digital Platform organization.
Serve as a core member of Microservices engineering team that designs and develops REST Microservices and other software applications.
This position will be expected to improve team agility through coaching and implementing best practices for development, automated testing, automated deployment, etc. An attitude that embraces Agile practices and automation is compulsory. The candidate will work together with the onshore teams and other cross functional teams to plan and execute projects, ensure that teams have appropriate requirements, direction, and resources to deliver effectively. Provide guidance & coaching to motivate, and lead team members (direct reports) to their optimum performance levels and career development.
Manages highly complex projects of a large complex global Ecommerce program in an Agile environment. Ensures innovation, POC, Deliveries are on time, within budget, and meet expectations. Understands the domain, knows the experts, asks the right questions to prioritize and perform necessary follow-up to resolve issues. Fosters and maintains Ascena Retail Agile practices
Lead team in implementation and administration of ecommerce (Microservices) application. Direct and prioritize work of eCommerce (e.g. ATG, etc..) Leads and developers. Analyze and report on performance of team and managements systems. Co-Ordinate discussions with Cross functional teams (DevOps, QA, Infrastructure, Security, Enterprise Architecture, Brands) and create Tactical plan using the inputs of Architects and Engineers
Plan and manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost and quality. Validate financial forecasts and provide ongoing reconciliation of resources and project costs.
Ensure proper Technical designs are created
Ensure teams provide Testing support
Ensure team is adhering to published release calendars
Be part of Production support activities and ensure root cause analysis is completed
Ensure team follows established guidelines for problem resolution & deployment playbooks
Liaison between ATG and Microservices Delivery teams
Identifying and prioritizing opportunities for IT to achieve the strategic goals of the enterprise
Administration duties as required. Performing the necessary administration tasks of performance reviews, human resource and training fulfillments
WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field.
Typically has 9 to 12 years of IT and business work experience including 3 to 5 years in managing eCommerce team(s) in systems analysis and/or programming functions.
2+ years hands on Agile experience
Coordinate globally dispersed Microservices development, QA, deployment and reuse.
Demonstrated successful mastery of major components of product lifecycle management within the context of major systems implementations.
Utilize deep understanding of Microservices solutions to make appropriate decisions.
Experience developing and implementing automation and DevOps solutions.
Manage solution integration with external partners like google, Oracle, Rackspace and other vendors.
Establish high, mid and micro level plans, and estimates for project teams.
Experience in leading teams working on implementing Integration technologies and architectures (for e.g., Service Orchestration, Service Choreography, Event Driven Architecture, Messaging middleware, etc.)
Prior success leading the development of ecommerce solutions.
Outstanding communications skills; able to articulate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences.
Working experience with AGILE methodology and the deliverables associated with each phase.
Proven knowledge of application development lifecycle and project management discipline.
Experience in estimating resources and developing delivery plans.
Depth of knowledge in ecommerce systems and the related eco-system.
Exceptional technical and non-technical presentation and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead a team of highly technical software engineering staff (in Agile methodology) and earn trust of team members and stakeholders.
Technical experience as software development manager, or related role is a plus.
Strong communication skills and able to successfully articulate technology concepts to both business and technology audience
Experience in the leading teams designing cloud native applications
Proficient in the Agile SDLC development
Experience with managing teams working on Service Virtualization, Functional and Performance Tests is a big plus
Strong presentation skills
Expected to work on production support based on the role and program assigned.
Expected to work as on-call support outside planned business and shift hours.
