JOB SUMMARY (Primary purpose of the position.)

Plans, develops and coordinates all Medical Staff service activities. Provides direction for and management of the credentialing function and medical staff functions for the medical staff. Works closely with medical staff officers, department chairpersons and committee chairpersons for enhancement of the total medical staff function, and directs and maintains activities of the medical staff office.

Medical terminology preferred; Ability to type 60 wpm with at least three years' experience as a medical or executive secretary preferably in a hospital or medical facility. Effective communication skills required to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner with physicians, administrative staff, and the public.

Basic computer knowledge. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and St. David's "Patient's First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures. Must be able to manage multiple projects, delegate tasks, and set and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Minimum amount of specifically related experience which is required to perform the role at this level.
1 3 years: two years' experience in a hospital or health related field.

Other required experience: If hired after August 2003, must have a minimum of two years Medical Staff processes and credentialing.

EDUCATION REQUIRED (Minimum formal academic training which typically provides the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance.

High School Graduate/Equivalent

Education preferred: Associate's Degree

Assists with administrative functions such as planning, organizing, budget tracking and training. Provides direction and assistance to Park Administrative Assistants and Managers on administrative procedures, bookkeeping/accounting functions for the region. Reviews, approves and monitors compliance of purchase orders, releases and requisitions. Assists with entering park and regional office purchase orders and requisitions into the accounting system, Business Information System (BIS). Ensures funding through the operating and minor repair budget. Prepares special reports, researches and prepares correspondence and provides regional training. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned.
