As the Manufacturing Manager you will be responsible for managing manufacturing operations and first line supervisors throughout the manufacturing facility in fabrication, weld, or assembly processes while building a lean culture of highly engaged teams focused on continuous improvement. You will be responsible for delivering planned business results with critical lean manufacturing thinking and analytical skills around process, flow, and cost data as they relate to key metrics on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. You will lead and coordinate the activities of production departments through first line supervisors to ensure productivity, quality, housekeeping, and safety goals are met and ensure correct implementation of new products introduction process.

  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing production functions for multiple products and processes.

  • Responsible for managing and implementing procedures for current and for new products processes.

  • Provide for a safe working environment on the shop floor.

  • Support the development and administer operating budgets for the respective manufacturing departments.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Direct, layout, plan, and coordinate activities to optimize performance of safety, productivity, product quality, facility utilization, people utilization, inventory management and operating expenses.

  • Analyze reports on operation activities, performance and results; initiate actions to correct deviations and variables as to schedules, excessive costs and other negative factors.

  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost to prevent operational delays.

  • Engage in all required human resource activities to include recruiting, coaching, counseling, performance management, associate development etc.

  • Review weekly production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations and meet ship schedule deadlines.

Job Requirements

  • Support the development of value streams and identify launch areas and timelines.

  • Lead new products and introduce processes.

  • Support and lead cost reduction activities through the implementation of lean strategies.

  • Adhere to all Leadership standards and values.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree (Engineering preferred) and 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment required. Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma experience required, certification preferred.

  • New product introduction process experience preferred.

  • Drive and experience participating in internal and external corrective actions.

  • ISO 90000-2015, ISO 14000, Safety, team building experience preferred.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of a normal office environment with extensive exposure to manufacturing facility environment.

Job Requirements Key responsibilities: * Assure assembly lines are balanced and meet the capacity requirements set out by management. * Develop work instructions to ensure employees can perform standard work. * Design and control the use of storage and assembly space in the plant using 5S principles. * Involvement with implementing new technology to production areas and development of standards for implementing new technology. * Conduct independent studies and manage projects to improve efficiency and reduce non-value-added activities. * Assure fair and consistent time standards for production areas to allow for accurate costing and manpower planning. * Fulfill the financial controls and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position. * Conduct in accordance with the Company Code of Ethics Policy at all times. * Support projects arising from lean implementation and kaizen events. Program Qualifications: * Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Engineering or Mathematics at an accredited school. Must have completed Sophomore year of coursework prior to the start of the internship. * Knowledge or experience working with operating systems, such as Microsoft Office. * Other valuable experience – refrigeration technology, electric circuits. * Working environment - Normal office and manufacturing facility conditions with extended periods of sitting or standing.
