Location Information

This is an on-site role based at our Liverpool, NY facility (ISO 9001 certified) supporting our Cameras & Imagers products.

How you will make an impact

Our specialized Camera's & Imagers team designs and produces scientific, radiation-tolerant and hardened optical cameras consisting of solid-state imaging systems for life science applications. As the Operations Manager, you would be responsible for the overall successful and effective management of labor, productivity, continuous improvement, safety and quality of the manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate would have a well rounded background including manufacturing, quality, as well as strong leadership skills.

What you will contribute

  • Direct and oversee manufacturing operations for solid-state camera systems, ensuring quarterly and annual revenue, delivery, inventory, and quality metrics are consistently met or exceeded

  • Serve as the representative of the Operations organization within a matrixed, multi-function Business Unit, providing regular reporting to the broader Thermo Fisher Operations hierarchy

  • Manage and enhance the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, ensuring on-time shipments and optimizing overall operational efficiency.

  • Lead production meetings to effectively communicate and monitor safety, delivery, quality, and inventory/cost (SQDI/SQDC) metrics, applying data-driven processes.

  • Strategically plan and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Thermo's Practical Process Improvement (PPI) systems to achieve productivity savings.

  • Oversee vendor relationships, including pricing, delivery, and quality performance. Establish development plans and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Ensure adherence to ISO9001 quality management systems in the manufacturing processes and actively contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

  • Maintain a safe, injury-free, and healthy work environment by establishing, enforcing, and continuously improving safety standards and procedures in compliance with company and legal regulations.

How will you get here?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree (required) in engineering or related science field

  • 5 years' experience in a relevant manufacturing environment (preferably involving electronics)

  • 3 years' experience supervising direct reports

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaborative skills

  • Composure, conflict management, timely decision-making, and self-motivation

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (Six Sigma or equivalent training an asset)

  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and order scheduling

  • Solid knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems

  • Knowledge of clean-room manufacturing best-practices preferred

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $100,000.00-$125,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
