Manager, Manufacturing Operations

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Manager, Manufacturing Operations to oversee the overall manufacturing process to ensure optimized production.

The Manager will design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing target. They will also supervise the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure a manufacturing process is within budget and time schedule.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA office. You will have the opportunity to manage a team, analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems, and to liaise with the quality assurance department to ensure product quality and specification are consistent.

What we're looking for:

• Education:

• Bachelors degree preferred, and/or HS diploma or GED with equivalent combination of experience (5+ years).

• Experience:

• 2 to 5+ years related experience and/or training in operations.

• Knowledge of machine operation and production scheduling.

• Additional Qualifications:

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

• Schedule the maintenance of production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations.

• Ensure products are scheduled and manufactured in accordance to the needs of manufacturing locations.

• Interact with department supervisors in problem solving, decision-making, and personnel issues.

• Manage department's safety procedures, hazardous waste, maintenance requirements, training programs, and storage facilities.

• Define objectives of the department.

• Maintain raw material inventories and coordinate with purchasing to ensure production requirements are met.

• Maintains manufacturing procedures, oversee warehousing, shipping and receiving.

• Evaluate department supervisors and review department personnel.

• Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.

• Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.

• Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.

• Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

• Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

• Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$99,000.00 - $164,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
