Job duties: Serve as one of the key stakeholders in "Transformation Management Office" (TMO) to define the company's way of running the business (methodologies and framework) across the global sites.

Be a part of the core team to define the standard operating model for the fabs to achieve manufacturing excellence including Automation of process and data collection, Internet of Things (IoT), Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) (Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML)), Predictive and prescriptive analytics. Lead the projects to build the tool capacity constraint, and staffing models for various products, work-centers and processes. Provide data and insights to operations functional management team (based on cost, capacity, and staffing analysis) to decide the factory running strategies (# of hours, shifts, people balancing, etc.) based on the supply vs. demand situation.

Drive the projects to establish the best practices for lean manufacturing to optimize the cycle time, on-time delivery, and yields for all the products. Update cost models for the manufacturing site. Actively engage in customer management and communications:

Serve as primary point of interface with key customers from Fremont operations side - explain the daily operational performance, host site visits for the customer management team during critical phase, navigate through challenging situations; and present data-driven what if scenarios to senior and executive management team to help drive some of the business decisions. Manage the team of manufacturing engineers to define the routine work, improvement projects, future opportunities and establish the priorities and timelines. Project manage the engineering improvement projects along with process engineering, equipment maintenance, and product team (e.g., new tool installation, new process qualification, jig/fixture modifications, UPH improvements etc.). Monitor and report on key operations metrics including machine availability, MTTR (mean time to repair), MTBF (mean time between failures), Performance, and Efficiency. Drive the kaizen initiatives and generate continuous improvement proposals to increase safety, increase throughput and efficiency, reduce cost, and reduce risks to product quality.

Education: Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.

Requirements: 3 years of experience in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or related. Requires skills and experience to include:

Knowledge of semiconductor material and wafer Fab operations. Experience leading Kaizen projects of manufacturing processes and generate continuous improvement proposals to increase safety, gain throughput and efficiency, and reduce risks to product quality. Experience leading teams and technician training programs.

Ability to manage manufacturing engineering groups to achieve KPI assigned: yield, cycle time, and efficiency. Demonstrated ability to apply Lean Manufacturing methods to a variety of manufacturing problems. Detailed knowledge of constraint management theories and practical technique.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint), MES systems (CAMSTAR) and PDM systems (Agile). Proficient with a statistical software package JMP. Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Position requires travel on average two times a year to different Coherent locations in Sherman, TX; Champaign IL; and Newton Aycliffe, UK. Position will supervise other employees.
