Description

Job Summary: Oversee and coordinate the manufacturing engineering activities within the organization. Optimize production processes, ensure product quality, implement efficiency improvements, and lead a team of manufacturing engineers. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Develops, implements, and improves manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize product quality.

  • Supervises and mentors a team of manufacturing engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Collaborates with production and planning teams to establish production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining optimal resource utilization.

  • Identifies cost reduction opportunities in the manufacturing process without compromising product quality or safety.

  • Stays up to date with advancements in manufacturing technology and leads the implementation of new tools, machinery, and techniques to improve productivity and efficiency.

  • Identifies potential manufacturing risks and develops strategies to mitigate them, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted production process.

  • Ensures that manufacturing processes adhere to all relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.

  • Works closely with design, R&D, and supply chain teams to provide manufacturing insights during the product development lifecycle.

  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovative ideas from team members and implementing efficiency-enhancing projects.

  • Identifies skill gaps within the manufacturing engineering team and provides training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.

  • Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and monitor the performance of manufacturing processes and the overall team.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or a related field and 5 years industrial manufacturing experience or equivalent industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite products.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to mentor others

  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.

  • Demonstrated experience in process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and manufacturing software tools.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is desirable.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards related to manufacturing.

  • Proven project management abilities, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Work requires periodic visits to manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 95% of the normal work shift.

  • Travel may be required including overnight stays.
