Provides general management and technical support through subordinate supervisors, for providing maintenance functions for the facility, including utility systems, equipment maintenance and design, and building and grounds maintenance. Ensures that maintenance department and strategic business unit objectives are met, including project, cost, quality and safety factors. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates maintenance activities between shifts.

  • Supervises Tool Room Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Schedules vacation and coordinates overtime for the Skilled Trades and department staff.

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of union contract as a guideline for assigning specific responsibilities to skilled trades personnel.

  • Advises and recommends equipment and procedures to improve maintenance department productivity.

  • Troubleshoots and advises on machine malfunctions, mechanical, electrical and electronic.

  • Supervises and assists in new installations.

  • Maintains and assists training programs and apprentice programs designed to increase the effectiveness of maintenance personnel.

  • Maintains the plant facilities to create a neat, clean and safe work environment.

  • Supervises and recommends improvements for the preventative maintenance of plant and equipment.

  • Provides manufacturing with necessary trouble shooting and technical maintenance support.

  • Responds and expedites emergency repairs for production equipment.

  • Communicates on technical issues and obtains information on problem assessments.

  • Administers and manages the Equipment/Plant Maintenance software system.

  • Provides TPM technical support to each business unit.

  • Assists with establishing policies and standard operating procedures for equipment and tooling PM's.

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

  • Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders to skilled trades and assigns duties.

  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

  • Supervises skilled trades and supervisory staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum five years experience in maintenance department support activities and inventory management.

  • Minimum ten years of experience in maintenance department support activities

  • Basic mathematical calculations

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

  • Ability to interpret nonverbal symbolism (formulas, blueprints, electrical diagrams, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

  • Prefer State of Michigan Master Electrician's License.
