Job Summary: The Manager-Magnet Program assists the Executive Director in providing leadership for magnet activities in multiple hospitals licensed under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) to achieve Magnet designation/re-designation utilizing the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) framework of excellence.

Assists the Executive Director with conducting gap analysis to track vulnerabilities and strengths to facilitate strategic planning. Collaboratively develops a comprehensive project plan and timeline and establishes a well-planned Magnet program structure and milieu that reflects the internalization of Empirical Outcomes and the four components of Magnet: Transformational Leadership (TL), Structural Empowerment (SE), Exemplary Professional Practice (EP), New Knowledge Innovations and Improvements (NK) in a patient-centered model of care.

Supports professional excellence through the promotion of professional governance councils and nursing recognition activities aligned with ANCC expectations for Magnet organizations. Exemplifies the role of professional nursing practice and possesses the ability to educate, disseminate knowledge and motivate other nursing leaders and staff to maintain Magnet re-designation from the ANCC. Exhibits strong skills in statistical analysis.

Participates in developing and analyzing and presenting reports. Ensures that all reports are prepared with completeness and clarity and are understandable to the most uninformed person. Provides human resource management for the department.

Conducts interviews using techniques that "select the best." Completes performance appraisals on time. Oversees and manages the numerous magnet websites and platforms ensures they are kept current with the most up to date information, assists with writing articles for the Magnet newsletter and the Loma Linda newsletter. May be required to travel to other sites under LLUH license. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Master's Degree in one of the following: Nursing, Health Administration, Education or related field preferred. Minimum three years clinical nurse experience at the bedside required with demonstrated leadership potential.

Minimum six months previous Magnet journey experience preferred. Minimum six months experience leading projects preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Must have current knowledge of Magnet designation/re-designation criteria as stipulated by the ANCC.

Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement methodologies, statistical principles, and research required.

Must understand evidenced-based clinical practice concepts and implementation into practice. Must be able to inspire and motivate others; team build; provide leadership; contribute to organizational culture change.

Able to speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; able to inspire and motivate others; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and business knowledge; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; demonstrate expert time management and effectively manage and prioritize fluctuating workload to meet position demands and aggressive deadlines; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, electronic records and written documents necessary to position; exhibit professional appearance and behavior at all times. Displays personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, discretion and confidentiality.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nursing (RN) license required.
