Legal Services handles legal matters for the Firm. The Third Party Actions group ("TPA") is a specialized team within Legal Services. The Third Party Actions group has primary responsibility for legal matters where Schwab is involved as a third party, meaning Schwab is not named in the legal matter. Specifically, TPA processes the following matters involving client accounts: court orders, garnishments, subpoenas, and tax and child support levies.

Our Third Party Actions group is looking for a Manager to support their growing team. The Manager will be responsible for processing garnishments and court orders, fielding advancements, researching account disputes and capturing a wide variety of Schwab documents from various internal Schwab systems. The Manager will need to be confident speaking with attorneys and occasionally taking escalated calls from clients. The Manager will also be responsible for working with other TPA team members to execute our business goals and to ensure all items handled by the group are processed in a timely and appropriate manner.

What you're good at

  • Primarily processing garnishments and serving as a backup for the processing of court order documents received by the TPA team, to include restricting client accounts, sending client correspondence, sending attorney and agency correspondence, printing client data for files, speaking with Schwab representatives regarding garnishment and court order matters, filing matter documents, working with other departments to address issues, occasionally handling advanced interactions, interpreting legal documents, handling large volumes of paperwork, etc.

  • Serving as point of contact for outside counsel

  • Identifying process changes to improve TPA processing

  • Training new team members

  • Serving as a source for advancements to teammates and working together as a team to ensure all items are handled in a timely manner

  • Handling a large volume of work timely during the day

  • Making quick business decisions that protect the firm from liability

What you have

  • 3-5 years of experience in Schwab Systems or at least 5 years of professional experience preferred

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience

  • Familiarity with legal documents, experience with debt processing preferred

  • Advanced research skills and ability to collect information from multiple Schwab platforms

  • Ability to quickly sort through information and develop concise and clear strategies and solutions

  • Strong ability to multi-task, including speaking with attorneys and/or investigators over the phone, analyzing their questions, researching information, and providing answers in a timely manner

  • Advanced technical skills, with the ability to utilize different applications at one time

  • Ability to work effectively both in a team setting and independently

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with strong organizational skills

  • Positive demeanor, passion, professionalism and strong work ethic with high level of integrity and ethics

CVM provides strategic sourcing support; identifies, mitigates, monitors, and handles vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. Reporting to the Senior Managing Director of Sourcing within CVM, this Managing Director will lead the team responsible for category management and strategic sourcing capabilities in the Financial Services and Market Data sourcing space. In addition to sourcing, CVM also partners with business units to identify, mitigate, supervise, and handle vendor risk; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. What you're good at * The Managing Director, Financial Services and Market Data will play a crucial role within Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) by providing business partners with category management leadership, planning and expertise. * The Managing Director, Financial Services and Market Data will lead the team in developing and handling category plans for vendors that provide financial services and market data or financial services and market data related technology and services. These plans will include pricing, indices, research, news, reference, and fundamentals data and include analysis of supplier inventory, industry trends, business requirements and corporate risk tolerance. * This position will be responsible for supporting and leading the team in encouraging strong relationships with senior Schwab partners in several core business units; developing, maintaining and executing Financial Services and Market Data category sourcing plans; leading all aspects of the strategic sourcing lifecycle; as well as collaborating with Risk groups and Corporate Legal Services, as required, on vendor engagements. * The Managing Director will coach staff as they lead competitive sourcing events to identify competitive vendors or alternative solutions that will generate advantages and drive favorable pricing, getting involved or leading efforts as needed. Handling competitive sourcing events will include the review and analysis of proposals, negotiation of commercial terms and the creation of presentations or reports to support management approvals of multi-year vendor agreements. * The Managing Director will be responsible for advancements as issues arise to bring together leaders as appropriate to resolve priority, vendor and team concerns as they develop, involving leadership as needed. * The Managing Director will supervise their team as they prepare and provide economic analysis of vendor proposals and various internal management inquiries for existing or potential vendor expenditures, including both internal and external risks associated with financial services and market data transactions. * This leader will build and maintain strong working relationships with their peers within CVM and also Finance, Legal, Risk and other subject matter authorities within Schwab to ensure that the policies and procedures are followed and met. * The Managing Director will also ensure that industry-leading procurement services and tools are utilized to support growth relationships for our suppliers and business partners.
