Manager, Land Survey

Directs, manages and coordinates functions in the Survey Division. Performs advanced technical survey computations utilizing the Universal Traverse Mercator (UTM) Projection System, longitude and latitude, and the State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS). Supervises mapping of County properties and all land-related surveys such as construction, boundary, retracement, hydrographic, geodetic, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and topographic surveys.

Reviews all land survey work for technical accuracy and affixes a signed and sealed survey certification on survey work completed. Work is reviewed by the Division Director though conferences and reports for adherence to established polices and achievement of desired objectives and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Surveying/Mapping, Geomatics or related field, including coursework in surveying subjects; minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in professional land surveying work which includes two (2) years of experience supervising the surveying/mapping work of others.

Equivalencies (Only if licensed as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper in the State of Florida prior to 2005):

1.Associate's Degree in Surveying/Mapping, Geomatics or related field AND seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in professional land surveying work which includes two (2) years of experience supervising the surveying/mapping work of others

2.Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification AND nine (9) years or related professional experience which includes two (2) years of experience supervising the surveying/mapping work of others.

Necessary Special Requirement: Must possess Licensure as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper in the State of Florida (copy of License must be uploaded to online application by 5:00 P.M. on the closing date).

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH: Survey services which include parcel acquisition for roadways; plat reviews for subdivisions; field work coordination; Geodesy, GPS, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).

Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
