Job Summary:

Oversees the day-to-day operations in support of all facets of the laboratory operation. Ensures effective operation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment, manages testing, develops and manages budgets, meets customer service levels, and regulatory requirements. Manages staff including scheduling, performance management and fostering employee engagement.

Key Position Details:

This position will oversee two sites Allina Health Shakopee laboratory and St Francis Southbridge urgent care laboratory.

This is a Full-Time position Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend shifts if there are any emergencies that occur.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operational performance.

• Monitors and oversees implementation of process improvements to meet or enhance quality and service targets.

• Takes accountability and resolves next level escalation on customer service issues.

• Assists in developing and implementing operations budget.

• Monitors financial, volume, and productivity data to meet targets.

• Implements cost reduction opportunities when identified.

• Develops and maintains laboratory policies and procedures.

• May have accountability for management of a non-laboratory department.

• Management of staff.

• Performance management of employee, including performance reviews.

• Hiring and onboarding of new employees.

• Train, orients and maintains competencies for employees.

• Maintains scheduling, time off approval and timecard sign-off.

• Maintain optimal staffing.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field required or

• Health, Education, and Welfare(HEW) equivalency exam (pre 1988) with seven years of relevant experience required

• Master's degree in medical technology or related field preferred

• 3 to 7 years Laboratory experience required

• 3 to 7 years of progressive management accountability required

• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician

• American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) required upon hire

• Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist

• American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) preferred
