Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Develop and advance a top-tier Network Engineers and System Engineers workforce by forecasting future skill needs, ensuring the team is prepared for upcoming challenges and opportunities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with UW Credit Union leaders, acting as a trusted advisor to align IT services with business needs, enabling cost-effective, innovative solutions that adapt to changing priorities.

  • Understand business drivers and capabilities to design enterprise systems that achieve targeted business outcomes.

  • Stay current with emerging technology trends and disruptions to enable new and evolving business models.

  • Translate business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints, documenting all solution design and analysis work.

  • Analyze industry trends and competitors to assess their impact on the enterprise.

  • Act as a consultant on diverse technologies and platforms, driving targeted business outcomes.

  • Lead the evaluation, design, and implementation of solutions for specific business applications or technologies, aligning with enterprise strategy and standards.

  • Ensure outstanding service for end users by developing metrics and data analytics to illustrate service and operational effectiveness for internal and external customers.

  • Maintain market-leading monitoring tools to alert team resources of outages or degraded service levels, ensuring timely response and resolution.

  • Manage team response during critical outages, coordinating technical bridges, vendor escalations, and regular communication with IT End User Services leadership to keep stakeholders informed.

  • Oversee the IT ticketing system to ensure prompt, accurate ticket assignments and adherence to SLA and quality standards, and coordinate resources for operational commitments and non-business hour activities.

  • Play a key role in organizational change management, developing and delivering OCM solutions, and partnering with IT End User Services to create knowledge base articles and FAQs for IT and end users.

  • Create and assist in developing technology-related business proposals for senior leaders, detailing costs, benefits, risks, and desired outcomes.

  • Ensure data and software backups meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), and assist in preparing and monitoring the annual IT Infrastructure Engineering capital and expense budgets.

  • Manage vendor relationships, including evaluations, contract negotiations, and ensuring optimal use of vendor resources such as technical support, education, and compliance.

  • Responsible for essential leadership duties, including but not limited to, inclusive excellence, responsibility and accountability, effective communication, teamwork, high-performance mindset, business acumen, recruitment and retention, change leadership and coaching and development.

Qualifications

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, data science, business, or related field.; relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

  • Ability to work on-site 3 days a week and handle escalated on-call situations.

  • 6+ years of experience in technology design, implementation, and support skills along with proven process design/development capabilities

  • 5+ years of formal leadership experience leading System Engineers and/or Network Engineers

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows PC and Server OS, Active Directory, DHCP, and other core/similar infrastructure technologies.

  • Working knowledge of data and voice networking, both on-prem and cloud.

  • Budget creation, forecasting and adherence experience.

  • Demonstrated professional maturity in handling data access, security, sensitivity, and appropriate usage, with familiarity in sophisticated network infrastructures and security.

  • Effective communication skills, including superior verbal, written, and presentation abilities to effectively guide and inspire.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, teamwork, and the ability to train, coach, and mentor direct reports.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to manage and follow through on complex projects.

  • Self-driven, curious, and creative, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and embrace a diverse, collaborative team environment.

  • ITIL v3/v4 Foundation certified preferred.
