The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the integrity and accountability of the inventory through a series of cycle counts, audits and process improvement/developments. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and a pleasant personality; effective memory skills; good hand eye coordination; dependability, ability to follow directions, and a strong willingness to learn.


  • Drive inventory processes which may influence the direction of other areas.

  • Manage multiple complex inventory activities and client driven projects.

  • Drive and manage the performance, activities and responsibilities of the Inventory Control Team.

  • Monitor and report changes in budget for client driven projects and deliver to the Senior Operations Manager.

  • Effectively delivers formal counseling/mentoring to direct reports

  • Effectively manages and engages onsite client relationship

  • Drive quality of Client related projects and promotes overall success.

  • Manage and adjust staffing levels based on business requirements

  • Manage, coach, and mentor hourly staff to include temporary personnel

  • Maintain Relationship with Staffing Agency

  • Identify operational issues and drives action for quick resolution.

  • Communicate staffing and equipment issues proactively.

  • Effectively measures Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to ensure all Service Levels (SLA) are met

  • Develop and maintain safe, quality focused, and productive work teams by creating programs and processes for hiring, training, coaching, development, and general awareness

  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to inform, supervise and coach associates appropriately

  • Maintain and Administer appropriate and timely performance feedback and evaluations

  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records for distribution center operations

  • Monitor and manage safety and housekeeping of the DC, and ensure all equipment is maintained and repaired as necessary

  • Drive and maintain control of cycle counts, physical inventory, discrepancy research and sanitation. Physical inventories (this will require mandatory weekend work, Saturdays and Sundays).

  • Research and resolve inventory and /or system problems.

  • Review performance of each inventory and identify inventory and /or system problems.

  • Serve as the departmental liaison with account management, operations, external/internal accounting auditors and clients.

  • Respond to issues (e-mail, phone calls, etc.) in a timely manner and perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Perform and maintain inventory adjustments within budget

  • Motivate and manage the performance, activities, and responsibilities of the Inventory Control Team.

  • Establish and manage cycle count programs to maintain inventory accuracy and balance

  • Manager principle and practices, computer logic and operations support programs, ability to perform a broad range of manager responsibilities over others.

  • Communicate effectively with other mangers, supervisors, employees and the clients in face-to-face, one on one settings, telephone and email.

  • Make arithmetical computations (Multiplication, division, percentage calculations, addition and subtraction).

  • Provide guidance in the absent of Operations Manager


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and 4-6 years management experience

  • Six Sigma Background strongly desired

  • 5-7 years of prior experience in a distribution/warehousing environment as an Inventory Control Manger

  • College degree or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to work all hours necessary in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Must possess ability to effectively speak before groups of team members and customers

  • Ability to read and interpret documents; and ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Must have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume

  • Position requires good PC skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint)

  • Government post hire

  • P&L experience strongly preferred

  • Client facing experience required

  • Project Management/Process Improvement skills a must

  • Workforce Planning experience required

  • Deliver resolution to issues and promote process improvement

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Effective people and planning skills required

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in all Microsoft programs; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Must complete and submit a background screening that will be conducted by the U.S. Government post hire

  • Knowledge of inventory management and control disciplines, computerized inventory record keeping systems, including Excel spreadsheets, AS400 7.3 basics ( Item ledger, Branch inventory, Item master), computer logic, operations support programs, NGS and showcase queries.

  • Ability read labels, RF scanners and maneuver throughout facility without assistance

  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

  • Ability to push or pull carts of up to 100 pounds without assistance

  • Ability to climb stairs without assistance

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and grasp products

  • Must NOT be afraid of heights

  • Must be able to work on a variety of warehouse floors up to 100 feet in height

  • Must be about to work in a warehouse environment with a noise level up to 85dBA
