YOU

As Manager, Internal Communications, you will be a valuable member of our Communications Team in Marketing. This role is focused on ensuring our internal key messages are conveyed accurately, consistently and in a meaningful and memorable way, helping support leaders and teams roll out key programs and initiatives. You will develop and enhance our internal communication strategies, strengthen employee engagement, and ultimately contribute to nurturing a strong, inspiring, and transparent company culture.

You and your team will create best-in-class communications - writing, editing and publishing content for internal audiences. You will also manage a variety of communications projects, including creating and executing strategic companywide communications plans, messaging and content to support change management, acquisitions, new programs, company announcements, and key initiatives, such as intranet migration, ESG, DEI, employee engagement survey, crisis communications, and employer branding.

You will work closely with senior leaders and other internal stakeholders throughout the company to listen and understand their specific program and project communications needs and then recommend, create, project manage and execute strategic communications plans and campaigns. You will ensure communication messaging and materials are high quality, accurate, informative and integrated with company priorities. You will also track and measure the effectiveness of communications and our communication delivery channels. In addition, the Senior Manager will oversee and guide a team of direct reports.

You have excellent communication, people management, project management, customer service and problem-solving skills. You are a strategic thinker, adept at managing and prioritizing multiple projects, detail-oriented, and passionate about driving successful communication initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

You will play a key role in collaborating with HR, Acquisitions, Strategic Partnerships and Engagement, and other departments and teams to create and support a variety of communications projects and programs and initiatives that increase employee understanding, engagement, satisfaction, and inclusion. You will also work collaboratively with stakeholders on enhancing employer branding, contributing to talent acquisition and positively influencing the company's overall reputation in the job market and construction industry. Additionally, your work will involve supporting organizational changes, ensuring employees are informed and engaged throughout the process. You will also lead the communications for several companywide projects and programs, including developing plans, timelines, emails, talking points, FAQs, and presentation materials. (35%)

Lead and manage our internal communications team, coaching them to excel in message and content development, fostering transparent communication, and aligning their efforts with the company and team's strategic communication goals. Your role includes guiding the team in utilizing diverse and effective communication platforms, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring consistency in conveying and cascading the company's key initiatives and messaging to all internal stakeholders. (20%)

Work closely with the Director of Communications in devising initiatives that keep employees informed, engaged, empowered and aligned with our growth goals, strategy, values and vision. Recommend and develop messaging and tools for senior leaders and managers to help ensure company initiatives, announcements, and key messaging are successfully cascaded to employees and all stakeholders. Support employee engagement through innovative and compelling storytelling and feedback opportunities. (20%)

Develop and implement strategic internal communication plans and tactics to facilitate seamless information flow within the organization, cultivating overall organizational alignment and cohesion. This includes crafting clear, concise, and engaging content and messaging, selecting appropriate communication channels, developing timelines, and fostering opportunities for open dialogue and feedback. (15%)

As an interface between the Communications Team and other internal stakeholders, clarify the objectives, expectations, deliverables, timelines, and success measures of each project. Track, analyze and report on the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and channels, continually seeking improvement to enhance the employee experience. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, English or relevant field is required.

  • 8+ years communications and writing experience.

  • 5+ years project management experience.

  • 3+ years people management experience.

  • Experience working with senior executives to support company/internal communications.

  • Familiarity with employer branding and talent acquisition a plus.

  • Communication: Possesses outstanding oral and written communications skills including superior writing, grammar, editing and proofreading skills.

    Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized and engaging manner for the intended audience.

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Proven ability to think strategically while developing and executing communication plans and materials using a variety of tactics (written communications, presentation materials, town halls, small group meetings, etc.) to articulate key messages.

  • Project Management: Strong project management and organizational skills.

    Ability to track progress and complete projects on time and budget. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

  • Leadership: Ability to create a positive work environment where all staff are motivated to do their best. Ability to adapt leadership style to a variety of situations.

  • Coaching and Mentoring: Possesses people development, delegation and mentorship skills.

  • Computer Skills: Must possess intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams. Experience or understanding of Sharepoint, Smartsheet, Workshop or other communication and project management programs a plus.

Pay

$89000 - $144100 / year

  • Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
