The Manager of Infection Prevention and Control provides effective leadership, management direction, and assistance with planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the infection prevention and control program in the hospital. Identifies and implements infection control goals and objectives related to surveillance, data analysis and reporting infection prevention and control practices. Conduct investigation of infection concerns and outbreaks, formulate policy and procedures, perform patient care unit and laboratory based surveillance, follow-up on significant pathogens, educate hospital staff and physicians on infection related matters, act as liaison to the Department of Health concerning communicable diseases

This is a full time day position at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital located in Cortlandt Manor, Upper Westchester County, NY.

Preferred Criteria

  • Master's Degree in Public Health/Hospital Administration or any related field

Required Criteria

  • Certified Infection Control (CIC) credentials

  • Five years related experience in the health care industry

  • Good interpersonal skills; good oral and written communication skills

Job Description The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in every 25 patients admitted to acute-care hospitals in the United States each year acquire infections that were not related to the condition for which they were hospitalized. Approximately 1.7 million healthcare associated infections (HAI) occur in U.S. hospitals each year, resulting in 99,000 deaths and an estimated $20 billion in healthcare costs.Although the precise causes HAI's are difficult to identify, experts believe that about a third could be prevented using current recommendations. The goal of Memorial Sloan Kettering's Infection Control program is to provide the safest healthcare environment for our patients by using evidence based guidelines to prevent HAIs and to engage in clinical and translational research to further the mission of infection prevention among oncology settings. We are seeking an Infection Control Ambulatory Manager to help lead our Infection Control Department. You will:• Provide support required to monitor and maintain Hospital Infection Control Program. • Coordinate Infection Control in Ambulatory care setting.• Supervise and train Infection Control Ambulatory Care Specialists. • Act as administrator for the National Healthcare Surveillance Network(NHSN), a national database for infection data. • Based on the site specific risk assessments, develops surveillance indicators for each site.• Develop Infection Control Ambulatory Care Plan - Provide analysis of surveillance indicators with further development of infection control indicators based on results.• Coordinate all scheduled visits to ambulatory sites by IC specialists, review compliance data.• Facilitate the Infection Control Ambulatory care subcommittee of HIPAC.• Oversee all ambulatory care Infection Control Risk Assessments.
