Caring for and protecting patients is always a top priority at Corewell Health. This includes protecting patients from getting sick while they are receiving care. This Manager of Infection Control will support our Corewell Health East (CHE) hospital locations.

Our ideal candidate will be CBIC Certified and have a solid leadership foundation leading this team of approximately twenty-five people across Corewell Health East (CHE).

Scope of work

Expert in hospital epidemiology principles and responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of the Infection Control and Prevention program and related process improvement program and supervision of infection control and prevention employees. In conjunction with the Chairperson of the Infection Control and Prevention Committee, set the direction for Infection Control and communicable disease activities within the hospital system. Acts as a liaison and consultant to the Infection Control Committee, hospital departments, medical services, hospital administration, external agencies, and the Corewell Health System.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, medical technology, or education related to epidemiology Required.

  • Master's Degree or experience equivalent including Master of Public Health Preferred.

  • 5 years of relevant experience, Clinical or Infection Prevention Experience Required.

  • Participation on Improvement Initiatives Required.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead (formally or informally) individuals and teams Preferred.

  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required Or

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Technologist, Certified (MT) Required.

  • Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) Infection Prevention and Control, Certified Required within three years.

  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Professional in Patient Safety, Certified Preferred.
