  • Primary Job Functions:

Basic Job Functions:

Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Human Resources function for a specific FS site. In addition, will have multi-site responsibility for US wide projects and implementations. Ensures all site human resource functions and activities run effectively, efficiently and in accordance with First Solar's Behaviors and Core Values.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • PHR, SPHR or GPHR certification is preferred.


  • Minimum 7- 10 years of human resources experience in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing HR professionals required.

  • Evidence of strong employee relations experience.

  • Evidence of strong project management and multi-site program implementation.

  • Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment required.

  • Must have the ability to formulate and deliver recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using the Company's standards, practices, policies, or procedures

Essential Functions & Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following)

  • Develops and administers various human resources plans, policies and procedures for associates at assigned site location.

  • Leads HR projects with national scope, implements HR projects for site location.

  • Acts as a strategic business partner for assigned business area(s) and site(s).

  • Oversees the planning, organizing and execution all HR activities of site location.

  • Develops department goals, objectives and systems.

  • Responsible to motivate and develop staff.

  • Responds to employee relations issues (investigations and corrective actions) such as employee complaints, supervisor/manager concerns regarding practice or policy application, and performance improvement.

  • Supports key HR business partnership efforts in performance appraisal process, salary administration process, benefits, succession planning, organizational design and transactional processes such as transfers, increases, promotions, terminations, and administration of various processes due to internal or external policy or regulation requirements as necessary.

  • Responsible to monitor industry trends, employment legislation and ensures compliance for the region of operation.

  • Responsible for the development and administration of effective training programs for the site, partners with OD on associate and manager training programs and delivery.

  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate and as required.

  • Keeps pulse on associate morale by actively conducting management by walking around.

  • Works with plant management to ensure associate compliance regarding all policies and procedures.

  • Acts as an advisor to all levels of plant management regarding human resource related issues and challenges.

  • Works effectively with the EH&S team to ensure plant follows all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all associates, company and customer information.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the Sr. Manager, Human Resources

  • This position will have direct reports


  • Minimal travel required.
