This Human Resources Business Partner, Manager role provides HR leadership and support for the Region 2 Area Operations Manager and their sites. This position supports Facility Managers for three sites and has a client population of about 200 employees at the following sites: Newark, Camden, and Union. This position reports to the Director, HRBP for Supply Chain Region 2 and is based in Newark, NJ. RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES: * Implement short-term and long-term people strategies to drive business growth and results. * Lead key HR processes including talent development, performance management, and compensation planning with support from Regional HRBPs and the HR Centers of Excellence (COE). * Support Talent Acquisition COE with recruiting activities, including establishing relationships with local schools/organizations, interviewing prospective candidates, and assisting hiring managers in the selection process. * Support organizational effectiveness and change initiatives. * Help managers address employee relations issues through weighing risks and alternatives, exploring legal and company compliance concerns, and offering balanced recommendations. * Create an environment of positive employee relations; balance business needs with employee needs, establish trust and credibility with employees and be seen as approachable and fair. * Point of contact for employee inquiries related to Payroll and Benefits. * Role model safety leadership. * Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR COEs to develop solutions, programs and policies. * Provide guidance and input on workforce planning and succession planning. * Manage and resolve employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations and make recommendations to regional HRBPs for complex issues. * Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. * Identify learning and development needs in client base and identify/ recommend solutions as needed. * Provide HR Policy guidance and interpretation. * Participate in other special projects as needed. Position Requirements EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE * Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of HR experience including resolution of complex employee relations issues. * In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, 7-10 years of HR experience and a nationally recognized HR certification. * HR Generalist role in manufacturing or plant environment preferred. * Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including payroll practices, recruiting, employee relations, federal and state respective employment laws. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: * Experience in a union environment is a plus. * Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Strong attention to detail. * Develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results. * Experience supporting implementation of new HR strategies to address competitive, complex business issues. * Continuous improvement mindset. * Manage multiple conflicting priorities. * Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels. * Be self-directed and motivated. * Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation. * Fluent in Microsoft Office and HR systems. * 20% travel.
